I've got a MacBook Pro 13" Late 2015 and the bezel has what look likes grease around the edges even though it isn't. It look like the glue has maybe peeled away. I have AppleCare to cover this I would assume, however this is where it gets complicated.

I took my charge out of bag and the plug landed right on the Apple Icon on the bag of the screen and smashed the plastic. The screen is OK apart from a very feint mark which is only visible on what backgrounds on the screen. Is this likely to be due to light being able to escape from the back of the screen and therefore giving the imperfection ?

Finally what's the likely outcome with Apple ? Would they have to replace the entire screen to fix the black bezel issue which would then fix the back of the screen ? Or will they be likely to charge me for it and if so how much is it likely to be ?

The issue with the front of the screen is a known issue, and Apple will replace the screen. Just take it in and explain that the screen has been like that for months, and that you only did the Apple logo thing a few days ago.

Thanks for the quick response , is there a known "Key phrase or name " to use for this issue ? Or is it generally better to play the dumb/vague card?

I would play the friendly "I'm not quite sure what is wrong with the screen, it has been like this for months and is slowly getting worse, is there anything you can recommend"? My brother had his done recently, he thought he'd wrecked it by using some screen cleaning wipes months ago! When he got there they straight away said "known issue, when would you like us to replace it". Took them 2-3 hours. Not only that, but when he came back to collect it, they said "by the way, there's a fault with your motherboard, when would you like us to replace it"? He declined as it was going to take several days, but they noted in the system that he can bring it back even after the AppleCare expires.

Apple support is AMAZING.

That's what I thought I have another year left on my AppleCare warranty so should be fine. Booked an appointment at my local Storefront shop and see how I get on.

Thanks again
Let us know how it goes.

They will know what it is, quite common. I simply said the screen coating appears to be coming off, he looked then booked it in. 2 hours later it was fixed.

You should be fine. I had my screen replaced by Apple FOC with this issue, you don't even need Apple Care. They actually replace the entire lid so I can't see you having a major problem - it would have been replaced anyway.

Went Stormfront , total waste of time. Told me it would be £50 to send over if though it was in warranty. Then proceeded to tell me the screen isn't covered because of the cracked Apple logo, I said repair the Apple logo then fix the screen. They then told me they had no screens until September:o.

To be quite frank their knowledge was shocking and constantly had to ring another branch. This was the manager as well :(

Off to the Official Apple store I go on Thursday, got a genius appointment booked for late evening. Pain in the bum but hopefully get it fixed under warranty or at least get some answers/options.

Lesson to be learnt Stormfront are useless for support and not much better for selling either.

Ah mate, you always have to go to proper Apple stores for this sort of thing.

Ah well learnt something new today then! Wasted 10 minutes of my life! But seriously their knowledge before I'd even taken my Mac out of its case was shocking. I guess premium reseller is by name only!

I'll report back after Thursday's visit to Apple.

Unless you have an inside contact you can talk to first in order to get everything organised, none of these authorised third party places are any good for repairs. I'd always go directly to Apple.

Ideally I would have gone straight to Apple but it's a 45 minute train ride and the earliest appointment was Thursday. Still lesson learnt for the future ..
