Machine washing a down jacket that says do not wash?

in the bath as suggested - I bought 5l of ecover delicate, and used some for a down duvet ... left in the bath overnight and massaged regularly to allow suds to get inside of top
then spun gently after rinse in bath ...
layed on top of a whirly line then regularly massaged to declump it as it dried (in summer heat)

5x25 minute session in the dryer and manually pulling apart clumps and it's fully puffed up again.
wow :O

I have a hungarian goose down duvet, I havem't put on the bed yet, I think ima google for duvet protectors and never have to wash it lol...

I have a down sleeping bag.. And I'm going to purchase a liner for it I think. The thought of washing that is horrifying!

Always use 3x tennis balls when I'm drying mine; helps with fluffing out and getting rid of clumps.

On my dryer the 'low setting' is the 'synthetics dry' option, with 'cotton dry' being the 'high setting' for temperature; most will be the same (unless they have separate temp controls).

Have a liner for the down rab bag too ... but that doesn's stop moisture & ultimately sweat getting into the bag.

For the down bed duvet, other than having a traditional cotton duvet cover some additional impermeable protective cover will detract from pleasure of the duvet (none of this bamboo stuff either)

I hate these "programmes".

I went through the instructions trying to find which setting was best to use.
For the blurb on synthetic it said "medium/low" heat. For everything else it wasn't clear.

If I was getting a tumble dryer again I'd just look for one with buttons for high/medium/low temp. None of this program BS where you have to guess what it is.

There was no delicate setting. But probably about 15 options! Ridiculous

Felt quite hot after 25 mins so I just didn't leave it in long.

the manual for mine is pretty straight forward to be honest (Samsung washer dryer), with the exception of below.

Temp wise you can only select between these two programmes; you can also select the time, in 30 mins intervals all the way up to "hanger dry" which 'automatically' estimates how long. But you can also add-on drying on-top of washing programmes. For that one, not sure which temperature it selects for drying; perhaps if I select synthetics/cotton it defaults to the low/high temps, but it's not clear; and what happens if I select another cycle??
