Madame Web (2024 - SSU)

Half the last page is the usual suspects (YOU) arguing about pandering to the fEmAlE aUdIeNcE as if it's not a case of Sony being complete turd than because it's a woman centric film. Women want good films (See Barbie), not this PoS.

I made one post which remained purely factual - not enough women watched this movie to allow it to be profitable - and I never once mentioned "pandering" just like I never once mentioned "woke" - both being things you've claimed I did.

So maybe, instead of fighting the made-up bogey-man you've falsely accused me of being like this is something personal between us, it'd be best if you also stuck to the facts, like I have.

I absolutely 100% agree with you! Barbie absolutely showed that (to use your grossly insensitive spelling from above) the "fEmAlE aUdIeNcE" is definitely there, ready to spend cash on something that appeals to them.

I was going to post the other day when Isabela Merced came out and said the men not going to see this were bigots - it was interesting to see the age difference in opinion (possibly more real life experience).

Both Dakota and Tahir have been pretty scathing about the film and it’s good to see that Sydney might also have her head screwed on properly.

It’s so hard to get movies made, and in these big movies that get made — and it’s even starting to happen with the little ones, which is what’s really freaking me out — decisions are being made by committees, and art does not do well when it’s made by committee. Films are made by a filmmaker and a team of artists around them. You cannot make art based on numbers and algorithms. My feeling has been for a long time that audiences are extremely smart, and executives have started to believe that they’re not. Audiences will always be able to sniff out bullsh*t. Even if films start to be made with AI, humans aren’t going to ******* want to see those.

But it was definitely an experience for me to make that movie. I had never done anything like it before. I probably will never do anything like it again because I don’t make sense in that world. And I know that now. But sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing and then as you’re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you’re like, Wait, what? But it was a real learning experience, and of course it’s not nice to be a part of something that’s ripped to shreds, but I can’t say that I don’t understand.

That must be pretty **** as an actor, to sign on for a movie and it just gets completely changed between the initial discussion script and finished product.

I know it's not unique, and has been happening for decades.

Watched it, it's pretty tragic. The bit that stuck out with me (whilst parking a woman in her mid 20s playing a teen) was Sydney Sweeney's character carrying around her teddy bear with her.

Enjoyed The Marvels more and that was pretty jank too.
