Madame Web (2024 - SSU)

Yet another female centric film aimed at a tiny female audience has flopped despite 55% of its box office coming from men. So as shown yet again, female audiences for these types of film just aren't large enough to be able to financially support these films. Hopefully at some point, studios will so desperate for money that they'll realise that creating superhero films for this genres mostly male audience might actually bring in more/some/any money, once sometime has passed to allow the burnt bridges between the fans and studios to be rebuilt of course.
Already started, apparently Sony/Amazon were in the process of writing a TV series based in the spiderman universe - they've just fired the entire writers room and said they need to shift back to targeting male audiences.

All the main cast apart from the bad guy, are female
So?

Funny how nobody mentioned this before it came out. In fact most posts in this thread are people saying they're going to see it because x or y are hot. So if anything you could argue it is aimed at guys :p

I think blaming the film flopping on women when it is a 13% rated film followup to another 13% rated film about a superhero very few had ever heard of, drastically changed so it probably won't even appeal to the small minority fans of the character is laughable.

There are already reports that Sony is done with this after Kraven and they'll reboot it again. That might do ok because I think it's a pretty popular character but I imagine it will still be crap.

Surprised you haven't blamed misogyny on the film flopping, that's your usual go to when female centric superhero movies bomb
Only when people are misogynistic and trying to claim things about a film they hadn't even seen. Seems like nobody has seen this though so nobody cares to even try, apart from ianh who has probably been frothing at the mouth for another tirade.

:D

BTW - "Tirade" - I've made 3 posts in this thread - 1 post saying thanks, 1 explaining who Madame Web is, and 1 post saying its a flop because women don't want to see it in large enough numbers for it to be successful (something supported by facts), I think your "hyperbole-o-meter" is reaching a little with "tirade" there :)

Wow, this has some crazy drop off.

Give Dune 2 lands Thurs/Fri the theatre release is cooked. Will it even hit £70m worldwide...?

Argyle had similar performance and is only just hitting $80m worldwide after a full Feb but that was competition free.
