I've been a big American Football fan for years and typically watch at least 4 games a week during season (NFL and NCAA). Strategy is a huge element of the sport and you'd be missing a lot of the fun in Madden if you don't understand the formations and plays.

I just played the 09 demo on the PS3. The new features seem interesting, but the graphics imo look absaloutely awful :mad:

.. not sure if this is going to be another bad port? Or if it's just because of the demo?

PS3 is region free so he's probably imported it and playing it on that.

I bought NCAA 08 from the US and it worked fine, same as you can import the MLB baseball games which never get released over here.

yeah NCAA and NFL Head Coach are NTSC only (if you are a 360 owner) we can only get the PAL Madden, released on 15/8

Would have quite liked to play Head Coach, think it could have taught me a lot about American Football.

cant wait for this madden im a die hard madden fan been playing it since the megadrive days, hopefully it will be good, will be getting it on the 360 for sure just dont like the ps3 controller after playing ncaa

actually got this delivered yesterday, quality game tbh - patch is already out to address some bugs (well on PS3, 360 is waiting for MS)

patch 2 and free DLC is being looked into as well - EA finally supporting Madden, as this game is almost SGOTY as it stands..... NHL 09 odds on to take that title though

Glad to see EA supporting it.

Personally Madden isn't my thing, I've tried getting into it before but I get bored fairly quickly. I guess if you pay attention to american football in the USA like we do to football here then I would probably feel differently about it.

I didn't buy NHL 08 but I heard great thing about it, I really enjoyed the demo so I might purchase 09 this year.

Really digging this game so far it's amazing, mine arrived on thursday morning and outside of work all I've been doing is playing it. Something that REALLY bugs me though and it was the same on 2008, if you're having a two player game and I do a lot with mates. You can see what your opponent is picking as a play, really frustrating that.

There was a way to disguise it on Madden 08. It's still a pain in the arse though.

My mates and I always preferred co-op though. Having someone intelligent to help block when you're running is great.

Ermm.... I never played it enough to remember.

I believe you selected your play with the Y button but the play screen would remain open until you selected a false play with the X button.

I really hope this isn't the case. I got my copy delivered today on PS3 and the reasons above are why I traded in Madden 08 after a week.

The graphics were rubbish and there were far too many interceptions and fumbles. This year's version got better reviews though so I thought they'd fixed it.

I'll be trying it later tonight.
