Made in England

I do try and buy some of my meat from the local butchers and have some items that I pay more to buy goods made in Britain. Not that, that was my aim, but rather for those goods the quality was better.
Having said that, I noticed that even my local butcher has started selling meat from other countries, so I guess the clientele can't justify paying a bit more for British made goods.

Here lies the issue. If the butcher can source a whole side of beef, delivered from Europe, cheaper than from a farm up the road, it really highlights the price of British produce. (massive assumption making here)

Or... maybe there’s a local demand for that countries meat at the butcher, I know polish people love their meats, wouldn’t be so far out there for a butcher to see the potential.

Though I don’t actually know the circumstance, so that’s just speculation.

yeah, I mostly buy Polish sausages as you can't get them made in England. Wife is a Pole and she demands the sausage.

I always try to go for products made in America these days over China or somewhere, rather spend more on quality kit that get some cheap plastic rubbish.

Like what in particular?

Can you get a Made in USA 60" OLED TV or a Made in USA phone or Made in USA. I have a few made in USA items like Guitars, amps and effects which they are famous for.

The Yanks still produce a lot of decent hunting, shooting and fishing gear; though you have to be very careful and read the labels these days.

On a camera related note, OP Tech USA’s products are still all made in the USA.

Yes WHAT exactly? So what Made in USA OLED or Made in USA phone that you would get over your average iPhone or Samsung?

I'd buy locally grown tomatoes, I am not buying locally grown bananas.

You asked something. I gave you an answer. Look for the high lighted part.

You(as normal) change the goal posts as you can't stand losing. Grow up.

I then asked for an example to your answer, instead of giving an answer you are telling me to grow up. I know this is GD but you are just ridiculous. Why are you being so aggressive?

What goal post? Sutters said cheap plastic rubbish and he referred to the USA and I quoted him, not you....last I checked, you don't EAT cheap plastic rubbish so it is not food related and you quoted me on a post TO HIM refer it back to the UK. It is within the goal post is that not?

And I am changing the goal post?

i would pay a little extra for something made in england that was of superior quality
if it was the same quality as something made in china but more expensive i'd have a hard time paying more
but really it should cost the same AND be superior quality as there is no cost of importing it and all that surely?

Nope they use whoever puts in the cheapest bid pretty much, IIRC there was grumblings a couple of years ago when they decided to go with Swedish (i think) steel to build some of our kit rather than use British although in that case I think it was simply down to the quality needed.

There are exceptions to this (quite a lot actually). Any PCs / TVs / digital equipment for the MoD has it's internals ripped out and replaced by the same OEM british board equivalent, and if there isn't one, it either isn't purchased, or it's binned. There was a significant DELL desktop purchase a few years ago and before they even came near site they were stripped down and british made motherboards, approved by DELL were placed inside.

The two LG75" TVs on the wall were binned after not following the purchase approval process. They were a week old.

Show me where you asked that.
I quoted your posts before your editing.

And then* I asked you "Yes, what exactly?" I am trying to get more specifics, or are you just going to refer me back to google?

The post that you quoted is my final edited version...what are you on about regarding the editing?

* then refers to following on, not the original post. You can keep doing that but i clearly said THEN, which you quoted.

Yes, I would generally look at the country of origin and would prefer low mileage items. It is not always easy to do though. Again I am not too fussed about paying a little more for UK porduced food and other goods.
