Madeleine McCann cops ask Home Office for more money to continue search for missing child

I consider our police, like our MP's and MEP's work well below capacity. Their slovenly paperwork has caused several high profile criminal cases to founder due to sheer idleness and incompetence that has, in my opinion, nothing to do with lack of staff or money.

Common in the public sector unfortunately

That paperwork was instigated by parliament... do you just expect them to ignore it when the law requires them to have a clean trail?

The police are running below capacity because they’re forced to, mistakes will be made. The MET has the most able force, but added political scrutiny. The only reason this continues to get funding is because the government gives it to them.

If you’re such a god at policemanship, feel free to join and show them how it’s done.

My issue with this theory (which admittedly, I used to support), is how, when they were under extreme scrutiny by the authorities and press, would they have been able to move the body, load it into a hire car (which they only obtained after the disappearance) and then dispose of it without being seen by anyone?

Allegedly Gerry took a broken fridge to the dump. Because obviously when you're renting a villa you would take care of that yourself.

The "convolute a kidnapping to cover up an accidental death" theory reminds of the Lindbergh Baby case [ also the JonBenet case ].

One theory has Lindbergh playing a prank on his wife by hiding the baby and pretending there's been a kidnapping, except he drops the
baby on it's head while carrying it down a ladder from the 1st floor nursery, he concocts the kidnapping ruse and writes the ransom note himself.

'Allegedly.' But there's no evidence that this ever happened. It seems to be nothing more than an internet rumour.

Also, the place they were staying at when the alleged fridge incident is supposed to have occurred is a villa they had moved to after Madeleine's disappearance. So it doesn't fit the required timeline of a murder and coverup.

Just like the DNA evidence found in the hire car they rented after the incident. He apparently posted about the fridge on their blog, and then deleted it. So much has been written about this case now, it's impossible to know whats fact and whats fiction.

What do you expect our politcal class are thick as ****, most of them would struggle on The Apprentice.

Just look at how they're wanting to take No Deal off the table and then extend the 'negotiation' period, the EU must be laughing having us turn up to negotiations knowing that they can just stonewall us and all the time we're stuck in a limbo whilst paying them billions of pounds a year.

I'm reading this as: "I have an opinion. I have nothing to base this opinion on other than the media, but it fits my world view so I'm happy to continue to believe it. Who cares if I'm right or wrong."

You are truly clueless.

My personal theory, is that she wandered out of the apartment of her own accord and met with some as yet undetermined fate. Likely an accident. The parents have stuck vehemently to the abduction theory, because doing so alleviates *some* of the burden of guilt and responsibility that they feel because of leaving her alone; "another person is to blame."

that's actually quite a restrained and polite version. i'm reading much more along the lines of 'divot knows **** all' - and for fear of censure by the mods i'll not explain what a divot is in colloquial terminology :p

You are being incredibly generous and forgiving - is it your birthday?

I'm just reading this article about the netflix documentary about the case. It shows a list of 48 questions that Kate McCann refused to answer.

As I read them I'm thinking why wasn't she answering the questions? That is abnormal behaviour. If you are a genuine person and mother you'd be answering every question you can in order to speed up the police searching to find your daughter.

Some of the questions are very innocent ones, asking about her observations of the room and why did she do certain things. Its very strange.

Why would a mother not answer a question by the police: Did Maddie suffer from any illness or take any medication?

Given the high profile cases the police have made a total hash of due to poor diligence I think the "truly clueless" badge needs to be pinned on the force's chest... ;)

I watched the Netflix documentary.

There's very little conclusive evidence the parents were involved. The man originally in charge was charged with making up evidence on a previous case and the show makes the case that the parents accused in said case didn't do it and were forced into confessing.

I believe she probably was taken but the chances she's alive are slim.

Irrespective, it is negligent to leave your kids in an unlocked apartment!
