Madeleine McCann cops ask Home Office for more money to continue search for missing child

It boggles the mind that police are still wasting resources on this after over 11 years when they're in the news daily complaining about a lack of resources. If the government fund them another 200 officers they'll probably just stick them all on the McCann case whilst London spirals out of control.

Kate should be made to answer the questions. How can she not be a suspect when shes refusing to answer the questions?

7. Assuming Madeleine was abducted, why did you leave the twins to go to the ‘Tapas’ and raise the alarm? The supposed abductor could still be in the apartment.

So by this question I'm assuming Madeleine was abducted, and though there are 2 other children in the apartment Kate walks back out of the apartment and goes back to the Tapas bar to raise the alarm.

What kind of person, nevermind even a parent, would leave children unguarded when there as just been a child abduction?

Unless Kate McCann has been diagnosed as having some kind of autism or aspergers condition, her reaction to the events doesn't make sense.

Tried watching the documentary, lost interest half way through the first episode. I'm not interested in the whole back story of the Algarve, just get to the point ffs.

I consider our police, like our MP's and MEP's work well below capacity. Their slovenly paperwork has caused several high profile criminal cases to founder due to sheer idleness and incompetence that has, in my opinion, nothing to do with lack of staff or money.

Most government departments got rid of the "waste" long ago. Everything is pretty much being run on a skeleton crew, some things just don't get done because there's no time. Or someone is covering multiple roles so it's all rushed. There's probably very few people left in the job who give a **** about this case now.

People leave or retire and don't get replaced, the post often gets cut instead. Meanwhile we always seem to find the funding for MP's annual pay rises...

Legal advice 101 is 'Don't answer questions in the absence of your lawyer.' Doesn't matter how innocent you are, that's the rule of thumb. Every law firm will tell you this.

These questions were presented to Kate in September, 5 months after she had already given multiple statements to the police. She was in a foreign country, she did not have a lawyer at the interview, and she sensibly declined to answer questions.

Nothing to back up your ignorant claims as usual, though. I'd have at least expected a DM article.

I seen/heard something exactly what you said the other day. You need to stop quoting other people off the TV and media for that matter. It's full of cringe.

Clueless doesn't come close to you.

So, how does she raise the alarm without leaving the apartment, mobile phone ?

Just read this on reddit, never heard about the dogs:

They brought two forensic dogs into the apartment, one at a time.

One was trained to alert only to a gas produced by human corpses (cadaverine). It alerted to a part of the floor near a sofa and a window in the living room, and to a shelf of a cupboard in the parents' bedroom.

The other was trained only to alert to the smell of human blood. It alerted to the same two spots.

The Portuguese head investigator theorised that sometime after the little girl was seen in the afternoon, and when the mother came running to the tapas bar shrieking 'They've taken her, they've taken her!', she fell off the sofa or the windowsill, and hit her head on the floor, and died. At some time after that, the body was taken and concealed in the cupboard in the parents' bedroom while they were pointing everyone in the direction of an abduction. At some point after the alarm was raised, and when the entire flat was first properly searched by the police, they moved the body somewhere else.

Since the dogs also alerted to the interior of the hire car - which the McCanns had not even rented until long after the 'night in question' - the theory goes that they subsequently took the body from where they had hidden it, put it in the car and then disposed of it during one of the many trips they took in that car.

I don't know if there was a lawyer present or not. But either way, if this situation happened to you, wouldn't you risk it to tell the truth if it helped find your kids?

It seems to me Kate is thinking of herself by not answering the questions.

If you tell the truth then how can you be proven to have lied? The evidence would back you up, and its not like another witness is going to contradict you as Kate was the first on the scene.

The only motive for not answering those questions is shes hiding something.

I'm amazed shes not been charged with something, even if its the portuguese version of perverting the course of justice.

The media here playing the xenophobic card doesn't help.

I'm not saying she did it. I'm saying that she as hindered the entire investigation because she, being the first on the scene, as not answered the questions.

The Portuguese police pointed the finger at them back then and probably still do. On their end they likely see it as a waste of time now.

Doesn't make sense. If it was an accident, why go through with the abduction story?

Parents don't go to jail because of accidents, but they do if they make up an abduction story, wasting millions of tax payers money.

I suppose the theory goes, better to concoct an abduction scenario than be seen as neglectful parents who leave their kids unattended while
squiffing large amounts of wine.

Is the sniffer dog's thing a matter of record, is there video footage available of their reactions or official, signed and dated testimony of their handlers and witnesses ?

Or is it just mere rumour the woman at the chippy has heard and has since become 100% incontrovertible FACT ?
