The most important thing we have is information. Therefore the more information we gain, the stronger we are. Nobody is going to give away anything without a focus for the discussion, hence an early vote to get the discussion started.

Firstly, he has confirmed. Secondly, what exactly will you have to go on? Through the general chatter that happens in these threads nobody is accidentally going to let slip that they are a mafia member/dalek/whatever the bad guys are here.
That information is not going to be volunteered. That is why you have to apply pressure, to make people give information up.
