that this is pretty exploitative
if they just advertised a millennium falcon for £900 then far fewer would buy the thing and it wouldn't be worth advertising on TV... have you seen many whole model kits advertised on TV to the extent this one has been? Nope....
this whole model relies on the kid/person seeing the advert and not appreciating the total cost...

By only advertising whole models at a price not many could afford.
well yes... thus it isn't viable to do so
but if you do it in a way that at least some people don't appreciate the full costs involved then you'll get a whole bunch of customers who wouldn't have otherwise wanted to shell out that much for a plastic model

They are a waste of momey and cost far more than just out right buying a model kit would.
are people trying to compare these magazine ones price wise to the studio scale model kits to justify the prices?
what will be awesome is when you can just 3d print a models components based on the blueprints
