Make cannabis a Class A Drug, say Conservative Police Commissioners...

No. There is a legal limit. You wouldnt just be topping it up everytime you used it. Everytime you used it that would be the max then it would reduce like drinking in a way.

Are you sure? The body metabolises alcohol pretty quickly (1 unit per hour). Not a clue what the rate is for cannabis but if it stays in the body significantly longer than alcohol then you would be "topping up" if you were a frequent user.

It would be like drinking 30 units of alcohol and the following day drinking another 30 units. Your body hasn't had chance to metabolise the alcohol from the previous day so it has that plus the new intake.

If it takes say 4 days for your body to metabolise cannabis and you take some on day 4 then it'll just be another 4 days before you're under the limit. I can certainly imagine many more drivers being prosecuted for drug driving.

point was that alcohol limit is based on impairment whereas illegal (cannabis...that can be detected long after the effects have worn off) drug limits are based on trace amounts, so if cannabis was made legal that should change

Yep I get that, but the legal limit for cannabis may still be left at zero. I've no idea what a safe level would be classified as before you're then deemed as under the influence.

Legalise it and tax it
I would agree with that, on certain caveats.
  • Selling and/or growing it should require a license and be regulated.
  • It should be legal to possess small amounts on your person, but large amounts should be illegal (as you would only need that much to be an illegal dealer).
  • It should be illegal to smoke it in a public place (so basically do it in your own home).
If they applied those caveats I would support legalisation, otherwise I don't.

I mean there is a a limit it isnt zero. It is in your system for many days but not at an amount that you would lose your licence for.

Are you in favour of the same applying to booze ? Be a bit weird being able to drink in public but not smoke given drinking in public results in far more carnage.

Or by public do you specially mean indoor environments like pubs ?

Because not everyone wants to get high of your junkie habbit is why.

Someone would have to literally stand over you and actively try and inhale the smoke you breathe out in order to get high in an open environment like a park.

In a closed environment it's totally understandable that it shouldn't be allowed.

Drinking in public doesn't create a foul smelling stench that travels a significant distance and in some cases gives people nausea and headaches (to be clear if drinking did I'd be against that happening in public too).

Fair point. Presumably, you are also against smoking cigarettes in public ? I find the smell of them far worse than cannabis.

Anyway if they legalised weed and banned it in public then I wouldn't complain, id be more than content with that... just in an ideal world id like to be able to go to a park somewhere on a sunny day and smoke a zoot legally.

Carefull your pot paranoia is getting the better of you.

Their a is police commissioner or at the door, a police commissioner at the door.

Agreed with this. I'd play along with rules like that as it would be fair. I like to think of myself as a considerate smoker (this came with age) and I respect not everyone wants to smell cannabis so now if I'm not smoking at home then I'll go in the woods when walking the dog or just stay in a field away from others.

I also agree that cigarettes are more offensive, in my opinion, as the smell is really acrid and lingers around for what feels like an eternity.

Bring back the death sentence.
Use a strike system
2nd strike dealers are hung

Less dealers, less drug use, less crime.

But probably more civil unrest. Probably cheaper to just keep the current system. Gives lots of people jobs. Probation, prevention/treatment places etc
