Make cannabis a Class A Drug, say Conservative Police Commissioners...

Easier than that.

National testing, anyone who gets a trace bigger than X (got to allow for passive actions) gets shot. No 2nd chance, all the assets can be seized to pay for the program and the bullets. We can then extend the program to other substances and target the bankers. Which to be fair are less likely to mug you on the corner of the street for your phone.

Happy to have a pass for the people who use CBD for medical reasons, but if they can found out dealing they still get shot. (entrapment is fine for this as a test as well)

Pretty much win win all the way around. Good training for the royal Navy as well as then can use the floating bodies as target practice (just the lead in the ocean to worry about)

Tell me you live on a council estate without telling me you live on a council estate.

I feel our group of concerned Conservative police commissioners should have their focus on the many more serious issues TBH. Ya know, the ones that require actual policing and have been ignored for decades.

If they do the same for alcohol can you imagine how much additional revenue the NHS would have. Decent idea tbh.

Indeed! People should be free to mess up their own body and brain but they shouldn’t expect healthy tax payers to take the strain for their eventual medical treatment

Back in the days when I 'used' it as a teenager it was always a coin toss as to what type of officers you'd get if you where caught.

We never caused trouble, none at all. Always found quite spots in our local park to do it away from the general dog walking public. We got caught maybe 8 or 9 times over 5 years. Half the time the police wouldn't give a damn and just encourage us to move on. There where a few times though when you'd get some absolute jobsworths. There was an officer once who called for 2 cars worth of back up before he'd even spoken to us, bearing in mind he was accompanied by 2 additional officers already to deal with 4 stoned teenagers... Had us up against the wall searching us, calling us little 'see you next tuesdays' and threatened to take us in over night for questioning. We had maybe 2 grams on us... pathetic.

The irony is that we where robbed several times and beaten up quite severely once. Phones and wallets stolen as well as whatever stash we had on us at the time (never more then 2 or 3 grams). One of the lads parents contacted the police about it and when they found out cannabis was involved they completely ceased to care and didn't even pursue it.

No, its not pathetic.

You was breaking the law and caught....Don`t do the crime if you cant take the time. In my world we wouldn't be having this conversation as yep you guessed it... Would have been shot.

What 'world' did you live in where possessing 2 grams of a mild psychoative substance would result in you being shot?

Some local kids were caught having a party in some woods with alcohol. Police just went to the scene, took the drink off them and told them to move. Didn't do anything else or take down names or anything.

It's an odd one. The culture around cannabis on a street level is very broad. For some it's a status drug that you could argue links into a more broad church of criminal activity, but I refuse to believe those 'users' are the majority. The biggest danger I've found from people using it is that they develop an extreme obsession with prog rock and pizzas...

Wouldn't that be a benefit to pizza places and makers ? not sure what prog rock is though.

I think it should be reclassified tbh.

Other than the “tax it” arguments I struggle to see why it should be legalised or tolerated.

If they taxed it gov would make millions and squillions of monies to waste somewhere else. They do with cigarettes and alcohol, both of which are legal but cause long term damage.

Imbibe and then get some King Crimson on. You'll soon fall down the rabbit ;)

People are going to get it anyway.

If given the choice of going to a nice dispensary or using a onion field I'd pick the dispo and happily pay tax on my purchases. As it is, some unknown collective is raking it in.

I didn't really come in here to lay down arguments as to why I think it should be decriminalized (at the very least). But what I will say is that the argument for legalization only really exist because of alcohol and tobacco products.

It makes no sense that comparatively the drug with the lower LD50 rating, significantly less addictive qualities and more tolerable social characteristics in the user should be illegal where the others aren't.

Indeed. God knows where that money goes or what it ends up funding in the long run. The quality control was/is dreadful as well. Too much space for a spiked batch. Then there's the chemical science behind it as well. The spectrum of 'misuse' get's much wider when you don't know what strain you're getting. The argument seems to be 'don't use it then', but that's such a short sighted argument when you consider the demographic of people buying it, namely teenagers who don't give a damn and can most often get it easier then they can alcohol these days.

Education as with all things is the key. Pay experts to study the chemical formulas of specific strains, assess the benefits or drawbacks, categorize them based on how they could treat mental health issues, physical disabilities etc, talk policy on how it might be distributed and sold, then put it to a vote

Better idea.... Shoot people who drink alcohol, since they cause significantly more disturbance, impact and cost to the country and it's people.

Perhaps we should extend that punishment to idiots who post moronic ideas on forums.... Ya know, the kind of dumbass that says "shoot people who smoke weed".

A completely moronic one, controlled by a stereotypical "Little Hitler" type, clearly.

I'm sure @SPG has never commited a single offence in his entire life, never broken a speed limit, parking naughtily, entered a supermarket through an exit only door. I've often suspected him of being a bit thick but every time this topic comes up he instantly removes all doubt.
