So do any of you fellow OcUK'er have a passion for making things?

My job has slowly moved towards a more managerial role in recent years, and I've missed the hands on productivity.

Year before last I met up with a friend who had started blacksmithing as a hobby, had a go at making a few things and was hooked!
I like my cooking and knives appealed to me, so I started out making some for myself.

Here's an early forged blacksmiths knife I made from an old file.

A sushi knife I made for a fellow forum member.

And a few of my latest pieces now I'm starting to get a feel for it.

Let's see what you guys like to turn your hands to!

How much for one of the damascus steel styles knives

honestly i'd pay you for one.. don't trust any of these mass produced crap sites.

They are not cheap due to the amount of work that goes into them, but they are proper work horses... £250 to start.

Nice, I did a 1 day blacksmithing course at a local museum a year or so ago, really enjoyed it and would love to do more, but just don't have the space (or time!) Those damascus knives are awesome, did you forge them by hand or with a power hammer?

I always wanted to do smithing for suits of armour, and would love to build clocks/time pieces.

@Perywinkle do you make to sell? I'd love a https://www.raymears.com/Bushcraft_Product/743-The-Ray-Mears-Bushcraft-Knife/ but refuse the price tag that goes with it.

I'm quite handy in various areas, but don't have time to really focus on anything. Hell, I can even sew and knit.

Those knives look very well made. Better than some of the established brands I'd say. How much would you charge for a skinning knife, similar to the one in the 10th pic down?

Those knives are great, I would love to have the space to set up a forge and learn the skills needed. Forged In Fire and the like is family viewing in our house.

Edit: That should be space and money

Wow really impressed with those knives, they are awesome.

I make Cosplay stuff (Weapons and Armour) every now an then but nothing as impressive as those knives!

Good stuff in this thread. I too am no longer hands-on at work, but I keep myself busy enough with too much other crap to have a proper hobby other than chilling in the evenings. It sucks really, as I'd love to get into watchmaking.

The thousand quid mountain bike in the garage that I've only ridden 4 times in 18 months will attest to me having bugger all free time.

LOL, it's not the Kinky kind of Cosplay!

i started doing pottery at the beginning of the year and i am really enjoying it.
Getting slowly better and doing something hands on is very satisfying.

I do make to sell yes, a bushcrafter in that style would be about £150 dependant on handle material choice.

£80 for something like that
