Nice to see HRT actually running some laps this time but they're only just quicker than GP2 were doing in qually this morning :eek:

Saw this on GP2 a while back

The Renault supplied GP2 engines are 4 litres V8 engines producing around 580hp. The cars can reach top speeds of around 320 km/h. 2008 GP2 chassis passed 2007 Formula 1 crash tests.

So a GP2 car passes F1 crash tests, yet HRT who split with the company manufacturing the GP2 chassis failed the crash tests. Add to that, at most circuits in the past, GP2 cars have been as fast or fast than the HRTs.

I don't know whether that makes the GP2 chassis really impressive, or the HRT chassis really disappointing?

i'd imagine 2007 f1 crash tests were a lot easier than all the new ones added since

They are probably tougher, but I doubt by much.

I was getting at Dellara are proven to be able to produce a decent car, so what happened with the HRT?

When Duke's post says qualy at 8am is that the show beginning or the actual start of qualy? Don't wanna get up any earlier than I have to.

Show begins at 7am quail starts at 8am I think.

Yep the times listed as the actual start times of the events, as the TV times will be different for BBC and Sky etc.

aparently theres a quote of ross brawn saying merc didnt use the duct at melbourne and its suspected the new duct on the top of the car feeds 2 pipes

that would connect to the front wing once the peice of carbon covering them is removed

imo they arent aiming at the correct angle but scarbs linked to the image on his twitter so i guess he thinks its feasible

i guess if the duct is still on top of the car after malaysia its feeding something other than the driver
