Malaysian Grand Prix 2010, Sepang - Race 3/19

Hamilton should do well in the race, I agree. However, McLaren have a history of bad strategy decisions that goes back a lot further than last weekend, so in changing weather conditions I wouldn't be that confident in Hamilton.

Vettel for me is the man to win in the wet. He's a more than competant wet weather driver himself but most importantly the Red Bull seems to be the highest downforce package on the grid.

If he can finish the race. He should be on 50 points instead he is on 12. Red Bulls will rule in qualifying but I don't think they will win the race.

Edit: Also the channels overlap for 5 minutes, so plenty of time to switch. Unless you want to watch He is Risen Today instead of the rest of the F1 :)

I have betted £10 each on Hamilton or Alonso to win. If it rains i expect LH to win, Alonso to win if not, as he's back in a good car on a track he know's well.

I hope it rains though! Only time i get on edge of my seat!

Vettel, Alsono, Massa (Rob will keep him chilled, and supplied with suitable array of spare visors :D).

Schumacher in the points, but not very many. Vettel's due a win, and if it rains, he can handle himself.

It's nice to see that Sauber have a more discreet F-Duct than McLaren. More pleasing to the eye.

Vettel to qualify 1st and then break down during the race would be my prediction :p

Webber will plow in to him at some point. Or someone else, if his teammate isn't available.

Vettel to win this one; I can't see him getting unlucky for a third race in a row.

Alonso second, Lewis third, Schumacher fourth.

I think we have to remember that the Red Bull car has had 1 mechanical failure in 4 races (2 races x 2 cars), and the Renault engine one failure in 8 races (2 races x 4 cars) and the thousands of kms of pre season testing and practice sessions where the red bull has had fairly smooth running as has the Renault engine, so I really think that Vettel has just been unlucky in these two races. Webber hasn't had any problems in the same car, so I think that the chances of a third car problem are fairly low.

I predict this thread be full of "OMG F1 BORING!!!!! CHANGE IT ALL!!!!!" posts by the end of Sunday :). Unless it rains of course.

I hope everyone is quoting this taunting you for being completely wrong.

Imagine you also hope that is happening! :D

I like the get-out clause on the end there Memphis. You now have very little chance of being wrong. Way to go :)

Bernie Ecclestone was right when he said that the last thing needed was a rush to change everything. That may not warm any of your hearts, given that you all seem to think Bernie is the spawn of Satan, but it does have the advantage of being true. Nothing major changed in the rulebook between Bahrain and Melbourne (diffuser clarification aside, and given that McLaren got caught in that it didn't seem to affect much given that they won....). So why was Melbourne a much better show than Bahrain?

It's not as simple as I made out in the Aussie GP thread - i.e. just down to the weather and the track being a much better layout. It's also the fact that this was the second race, and the experience of Bahrain would have helped eveyone. The pressure was also off in a few cases - in the case of the Scuderia, Alonso had won on his Ferrari debut, the team had a 1-2, Massa had a podium on his return to the racetrack. Everyone came to Australia knowing rather more than they did going to Bahrain. The weather threw everyone a curve-ball, and the knock-on effect WRT strategy gave us the 2010 Australian GP - a race that most folks are acknowledging was far, far, far better than that desperately expensive procession in Bore-rain.

If the racing is still dull when we get to a European track that isn't Barcelona or Monaco, then TPTB can start panicking.

^ I agree with that man thar

Anyway, I'm hoping for another consistent drive from Button. I think he's going to be a deciding player in this years proceedings and seems to be quickly slotting into place at McLaren. I don't think we've seen the best of both him and Lewis yet, could be very interesting.

Interesting to see what the outcome will be over RBR suspension ride height clarification.

Chances are that it's going to rain a lot this weekend, which imo can only be a good thing:D. Unless it leads to a red flag of course!

Good to see the Hamilton brigade out in force giving their predictions for what they want to happen, not think will happen. Excellent stuff.

Vettel (can't keep running out of luck while waltzing it?)
Alonso
Webber (if he doesn't go around battering people like last time..)

Sutil to get off the mark as well, I reckon top 7 is within his reach at this kind of track.

I predict Lewis for race win. He's like shaken bottle of coke ready to EXPLODE :D

Did he not throw that out of the pram in Australia as well? ;)
