Malaysian Grand Prix 2010, Sepang - Race 3/19

I have betted £10 each on Hamilton or Alonso to win. If it rains i expect LH to win, Alonso to win if not, as he's back in a good car on a track he know's well.

I hope it rains though! Only time i get on edge of my seat!

Except Hamilton is about as good as Massa in the wet.

Spun out in China 2007 on deteriorating tyres
Spun 4 times in China 2009

I would actually say that he is the fastest driver in the wet, currently in F1.
I would also add that he is the fastest driver in the dry, too.

The Schumacher of old would rank ahead of Hamilton, but the MS of old, is gone.

Its a stupid idea, the car in the lead would just trim his wing off as well as soon as he hit the straight. Then you would end up with loads of regulations as to when you could use it if you was the car infront.

It wouldn't stop the dirty air problem.

Exactly the same as Kers then, or if we go to 1.5l turbos with adjustable boost, then the same as adjusting the boost.

His car had no downforce for China 2009, hardly surprising.

China 2007 was very special circumstances.

Hamilton > Massa in the wet, by 1000x.

That was just a tease really, but on a more serious note I don't think there is as much in it as people think.

Hamilton spun 4 times in China, Mass spun 4 times in Silverstone. Massa did very well in the changeable conditions at interlogos when Hamilton won his WDC. I think the car and its ability to warm up the tyres quickly is more of an issue. Remember Ferrari had a problem with that in the 08 season.

Think Alonso would be my preferred wet weather driver, of course like the rest he has had his offs too.

Anyway I hope McLaren have a good race, long with the other front runners. I'll be up to watch FP3 and Qualifying.

Having just finally caught the start of P1 and listened to what Christian Horner said, my understanding of the issue is that there was a problem that allowed the wheel to freely rotate independent of the hub, i.e. the wheel was still attached to the hub, however for example despite the brake being fully engaged, the wheel itself was still able to rotate without any braking force being applied to it.

I hope that makes sense in at least some form!

Thanks for that update, interesting :) It would explain the vibration.

It's not the age that's gone it's the gadgets. For once in his life since he was in his early 20's he's actually controlling the traction coming out the corners with his foot.

Not only that, people are forgetting the car was not designed around him. MS likes a car to move a lot. A car designed around button would not want to do that.

That said I still have faith in him to beat rosberg and don't believe he's having anything like the hard time you or the media want to make out. He pegged Rosberg for pace at bahrain. I'm sure he would at oz as well if it wasn't for the first lap, yet he still set a fast laptime.

He's doing an excellent job for a driver who hasn't driven a non electronic f1 car since before Rosberg was born ;) Rosberg has had a year on him with the cars. MS will be beating him soon enough, he's just had bad luck.

People seem to be forgetting how long it took massa to even look half decent when they took traction control away.

Hamilton > Massa in the wet, by 1000x.

That is beyond doubt. Didn't massa have a race where he span multiple times in the wet? 2008 Silverstone?

The man can win like all good test drivers from pole and thats about it.

Remind me again where Lewis Hamilton started for 72.7% of his wins (8 times for 11 wins)? Might it have been pole?

And, incidentally, can you guess what the %age figure is for Felipe Massa? Might it be 72.7%, 8 wins from pole out of 11 wins total?

Honestly, you all make it far too easy sometimes....

Fair point.

The man is a gimp in comparison to hamilton. Its just a perception that massa doesn't do anything if he's not on pole. I can't ever remember him taking a race by the scruff of the neck or digging out a result from a car that wasn't performing. I can't even really remember him ever pulling off a decent over take.

The difference between him and Heidfeld is Heidys manager wasn't a todt.

Atleast Capelli did something of note to earn a ferrari drive ;)

There cannot be anyone on this forum who didn't think WTF when they chose massa to be MS's hand picked whipping boy. Alonso will be more than happy to have him around.

yea because when he started everyone had gadgets and the jordan pay drive was designed around him

I've just looked at the scheduling for the GP, and it looks like they switch from BBC1 to BBC2 half way through the race - that can't be right surely?
