Malaysian Grand Prix 2010, Sepang - Race 3/19

You could say they could only use it 3 times in a lap?
It's got to be cheaper then Kers(which cost $40mill) or bring in turbo charged engines.

Some good dry running completed, not so sure it will stay like this though :)

Glad the mirrors are being moved back to the traditional position - McLaren already using them there.

Free Practice 1/2 results.

Hamilton seems to be determined to dominate this race weekend.

And once again Rosberg is outperforming MS.

Ferrari's looking a bit off the pace. But is that just down to what kind of run they did? Can anyone who watched practice confirm?

Good to see the Hamilton brigade out in force giving their predictions for what they want to happen, not think will happen. Excellent stuff.

Vettel (can't keep running out of luck while waltzing it?)
Alonso
Webber (if he doesn't go around battering people like last time..)

Sutil to get off the mark as well, I reckon top 7 is within his reach at this kind of track.

Did he not throw that out of the pram in Australia as well? ;)

You were saying?

Hard to tell. They were doing long(er) runs but maybe with more fuel than the others? I find it odd they didn't do any low-med fuel runs, or if they did they were off the pace which I doubt.

We'll find out more in FP3 if its dry as the teams tend to do more qually based testing in that session.

The potential return of Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS) to Formula 1 for 2011 is set to dominate the agenda of a meeting of team principals in Malaysia later today, AUTOSPORT has learned.

Interesting........!

It could be such a good thing if they de restrict almost every aspect of it, apart from weight and you start the parade lap with no charge/KE.

Well determining anything from Practice sessions has always been a bit of a mug's game, but now that fuel can account for up to 4 seconds of pace, surely it's even more ridiculous than ever to try and make these sorts of judgements. Even when they all look like they are doing low fuel quali runs, it hasn't been very accurate compared to their Q3 pace.

Indeed!

Also rumours of increasing rear tyre width to 18" instead of current 13" to increase mechanical grip.

It's not the width, its the diameter of the rim that is proposed to change.

Wish they would stop fannying about with KERS and Aero and just allow bigger tyres and more power! :p
