Malaysian Grand Prix 2013, Kuala Lumpur - Race 2/19

Tbh he's better than either of the TR drivers, and if nobody decent appears on the market for RBR to snap up (basically Kimi), then I see no reason why RBR wouldn't just offer him another 1 year deal worth £gazillion.

+1

(unless there is internal RBR politics (ie mata****s :):( wanting to oust him like winter articles suggested)

Maybe its a smoother "ride" all around if it is a nobody in the other seat....

Marko has wanted Webber out for about 3 years now, yet they keep singing him on 1 year contracts.

They will shout, Webber will complain, Marko will say Webber is useless and Vettel is god, there will be rumours about Ferrari, Lotus, Williams and Le Mans, and then as the European season draws to a close..... RBR will anounce they have signed Webber on a 1 year deal, again. :p

Especially as he and Alonso are good friends, and yes, I can imagine he'd take great satisfaction in playing a role in toppling Vettel's title challenge now.

Before Sepang, I always got the impression that Webber and Vettel got on OK. I mean, they were never great buddies, that was plain to see, but I felt there was a lot of mutual respect. I feel Webber's issue has always been with the team (them blaming Mark for Istanbul, and gifting Vettel Webber's front wing at Silverstone after Vettel's side of the garage broke their own). Clearly if there ever was much respect between them then it's blown now.

So long as Mark is in F1, he'll certainly remember that.

And huge credit for going against the team with his comments such as "he'll get protection", as we all thought that was what going to happen. Horner's and Marko's faces were a picture during the podium interviews.

It's a shame there aren't more Webbers in the sport, willing to kick the **** out of the PR line and just saying it as they see it. Still, it's better now than it was last decade, when everything in F1 was "the team", and everything in American motorsport was "I'd like to thank [insert long line of sponsors]". The drivers tend to speak their minds a little more now.

One thing is for certain...
If Webber stays in F1...
And no matter which team he is in...
You can bet your ass that there is only one other car that he will be fixated on the grid throughout the weekend.

Come race weekend next week, no matter how anyone tries to sugar coat it from the RBR camp....

... Webber will be bitter about the whole experience, and I am sure he will adopt a completely different mentality the next time he and Vettel go wheel to wheel....

On the flip side, I would love to see Porsche doing well at Le Mans again, and I imagine Webber would love another crack at it given his 'eventful' previous attempt.

As Audi have proved, if you want a solid bash at Le Mans you need a consistent driver lineup from the start. 1 more year at RBR or 3 years racing the Audi's and Toyota's and trying to win Le Mans. Tough choice.

RBR to give up "Multi" code.
A code which pretty much everyone understands.

However, don't expect Red Bull to issue any 'Multi' orders - not because they are suddenly against team orders but rather because neither seems to understand the code.

Yes it does sound rather obtuse to understand.

Horner said:
"It's not complicated. It's not that difficult to translate, but both our drivers in the last three races have failed to understand both of those messages.
So you're saying your drivers are thick?

"I think we're going to give up on that code. We need to probably try something else."

Do what Mercedes did? Tell it straight? Here's a clue Horner...

What a muppet.

Not really just might have been communicated in an earlier message - Im surprised that people thought Multi21 was an engine map, thought it was obviously it was a wrapped up team order.

Unless we expect them to have 20+ engine maps or just assign random numbers to them :p

Things like "Yellow G4" are engine maps at McLaren. Mercedes have also got a single dial doing 3 different sets of controls so 21 options is entirely possible. It was also widely reported in the press that multi 21 was the order for Mark to turn his engine mode down.

Pretty much throws all the argument's about Vettel only catching because Webber had been told to turn his engine down out the window, doesnt it?

Madness, it seems a simple deduction that if 'multi21' was an engine map why would Webber be shouting it across the room at Vettel before the podium, in that context it means nothing other than 'fuel saving' so isnt a comment that would make that much sense straight away to Vettel; it makes much more sense in that context that it was a coded team order.

LOL @ the press reporting it otherwise

Did you not see any of the post race stuff or read this thread? It was all talk about how Webber was mugged because he turned his engine down and Vettel didn't.

I'm with you, looking back now its obvious that it was a positioning order and not an engine mode, but that didn't stop people persisting with it when they saw a chance for some Vettel hate.

No I see your point, just seems a rather ambiguous term for Webber to throw at Vettel after the race (lets be honest Webber was ****ed), when it just means 'fuel saving', which could be seen, at face value, not to mean anything about status quo (well Rosberg was challenging that until he was told in no uncertain terms in the end).

I know these made up terms crop up, but it seems quite easy to overthink what some of them mean, especially when teams still use 'Plan A' and 'Plan B' :p. Or is that when LH and JB are checking if theyve got tickets to Plan Bs next gig or something?

It does make me think staging a F1 Opera could be quite funny just using all these made up terms :D. Id like it to be called 'Felipe Baby, go faster'
