Malaysian Grand Prix 2015, Kuala Lumpur - Race 2/19

So Williams have taken a bung from perennially-useless pay-driver Sutil to be their reserve and Suzi thus won't get a chance should either of the main drivers not be able.

Congrats Williams, just when I was starting to like you again, you pull this kind of crap and have lost all my support again.

I doubt Sutil is getting any money. He gets to stay in the F1 circle and gets time in the simulator (and perhaps a race) while Williams get an experienced driver to provide more data. It works out for both parties.

Wolff was never a reserve driver. She's a development driver. She doesn't qualify for a super license anyway, even if they did want her to jump in the car.

They had already confirmed that she wouldn't drive even before signing Sutil. They have another (development) driver and Suzie is only the test driver.

Yeah she's cute and I like her, but I'm not going to fool myself by claiming she's a better driver than the other options of Sutil or Lynn. Shes in the team to be a pretty face and nothing more. If she did get a drive it would be because she's a woman rather than because she's the best option, and given the reaction to pay drivers I'd be annoyed if Williams did it.

It's the sort of problems you have to expect after no pre-season or experience of driving the car. Ricciardo spun by braking on the grass in Australia and Sainz did it twice I recall and he went on to have a stunning race, so it's a bit harsh criticising another rookie for that one.

Very big difference between a team who missed preseason needing laps and those actually having done preseason testing who are actively trying to find the track limits.

I have no problem with Sainz or anyone else spinning while trying to find the track limits and push a fast lap but Manor both weren't going fast and are much more in need of laps than competitive speed at this particular second, losing out on another session potential because you went too close to a white line when you just needed to keep it safe is just bad driving.

Sutil is just such a giant **** that regardless of any money he might pay for a seat I'd have preferred them to go with almost anyone else. He's a dangerous driver who ruins peoples races consistently. He has one of the worst DNF records in terms of DNF's caused by crashes/bad driving as opposed to technical failures and there are many more circumstances in which he's hit people off or ruined races but not gone out himself. He's almost always the instigator in crashes rather than the person hit. AFAIK he's got a significantly worse crash record than Maldonado.

Shame Susie can't get a licence but like I said, would have been nice to see anyone else in that role instead.

I suppose McLaren should be happy that they're faster than a 2014 car that's been bodged to be legal for 2015 running dodgy software installations. Means they're not last.
