Good job he never had the halo on as it would have taken longer to get out. Mags was very lucky.
Wow, every opportunity.
Currently the chance of a serious fire in F1 is what, more than once every 2 decades, and that's assuming Magnussen's fire was serious (I'll catch up on free practice tonight).
So about the same as a tire hitting a car then. And that's the only thing the halo will stop.
A wheel hitting a driver has killed a single-seater driver in the last 7 years. I don't think a fire has killed a single seater driver in a race weekend while I, and probably you, were alive.
I never mentioned F1. I said single seaters.1973 was the last one in F1. I can't find out when a driver was killed by a wheel in F1?
And my point still stands. Other then stopping a wheel the halo is pointless.
Took him the full 5 seconds under real circumstances to get out with out the halo. He was very lucky indeed.

How was he lucky? Even if it dribbled into the cockpit it wouldn't have been a problem. Pedro Diniz was completely engulfed in flames and he wasn't even injured. Jos Verstappen had a couple of singed eyebrows because he'd opened his visor. Magnussen got out because all he knew was there was a fire and he had an engineer shouting in his ears.
Please Lewis, just get a decent start tomorrow.
