Man Jewelry

I have a rune carved onto a stone on a leather string that i wear around my neck. I picked it up from a street trader in Edinburgh at the end of one of the Art College terms up here, as a lot of art students sell or try to sell work off then.

Some people can pull it off - but I think a lot of it is very crass too. I for one cannot pull it off, I seldom wear a watch either. I used to wear a cross around my neck (it's a sort of tradition in the family, and all Greek Orthodox (even non practicing) wear them) on a thin chain - it was very subtle. My father does, and he pulls it off, but then again he always has and so I don't see it as odd.

Wedding bands are obviously fine. Some family rings can look ok too. But lots of rings, or blingy crap I just don't get.

Bracelets you have to be able to pull it off as with chains and other forms of jewelry.

Earings I've never understood the interest of and frankly I find that a bit odd. Though strangely piercings are less odd to me - but I guess if a person can pull off numerous piercings it's a bit more part of the person's character than just having an earring or two "rocks" in your ears.

I think the problem is, that now a lot of this "bling" jewelry has been tarnished a bit by yobs and other low social standing members of society. Whereas an elegant bracelet, or chain could be a rather distinguished bit of decoration it is now a little desperate (to my eyes).

Unfortunately I'm going to have to sit more on the fence on this one and just say that some people it works for some people it doesn't. It's not for me though.
i agree with the -some people can pull it off
the people who cant are
1 chavtastic
2 covered in tats
3 fat people (obese)

there are exceptions however

tell me or show me someone with a face piercing that looks cool

i dont wear any, not even a watch (have a phone for that kind of stuff). i just don't see how wearing shaped lumps of mineral is practical, it serves no purpose. except a wedding ring of course :)

I agree but I do like things with some form of sentimental value (that look cool), even though I will judge them on look if I can have a choice in the buying process.

That's completely subjective but here are a few which I find rather nice (courtesy of ModBlog, all copyright Shannon Larratt):

Monacle and pocket watch on a chain, old skool bling.

No, I wear a thin brushed metal chain I had a maching bracelet but I lost it the night I met my girlfriend....not that I'm saying she's a thief or anything.

There's a place called "Lord of The Rings" on North Road (well High Northgate) on the corner of Arthur Street - I'd probably go there, purely because they've been there for as long as I can remember.

I wear a watch and thats it. I'd be suprised if i wore a wedding ring in the future, as I remember trying a ring on before, and looking absolutely ridiculous.

Each to their own though, and on some guys jewelry seems to work well for them, but i just look ridiculous, so i'll steer clear of it.
