Man Utd - buy a midfielder!

oh ****, if Ferguson doesn't buy a midfielder now..... I don't know...

Gravesen would be perfect, I said it weeks ago, he's available and more importantly he wants to join us. I just hope Ferguson hasn't already convinced himself we can do without one because he played Rio in central midfield to test the waters so-to-speak :(

We'll be getting (fingers crossed) a good midfielder in the summer anyway, but we really really need a player now to play in central midfield.

what a blow with scholes, just hitting form aswell :( - i do think we need a 'cover' player as giggs and o'shea is not good enough, gravey would be a good player if he could be purchased for around 2mil, with all the other top teams still in the CL, man utd have a good chance with the mickey mouse cup and the FA cup, so getting a player in for cover could really help.

Exactly, Graveson for £2 or £3 million is no outlay at all. We desperately need a senior player in there by the end of the month, or we can kiss goodbye to the two cups and second place in the league.

this will be a testing time for Ferguson, will he admit that we can't rely on his current crop of young midfielders and buy a proven midfielder like Gravesen who has played in the Premiership? Or will he push it aside and concentrate on supporting the likes of O'Shea and Fletcher, an aging Giggs who has 1 good game in every 8, Smith through no fault of his own a striker forced to play a defensive role in midfield, Richardson who either has a fantastic game or a really dire game, and Park a player he hasn't given a chance despite his compliments of the player?

I'm sure he's really regretting sacking Keane now!.....

edit: More importantly would any of our current midfielders walk into any top Premiership team like Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool? .........................

exactly....why do we have them then?

And GravyDish would?

no, but he's better than any of our current midfielders, and would be a good squad player until we buy a big midfielder in the summer for the long term. And I'd bet he would be on less wages than O'Shea and Fletcher.

Of course he would. He's a very good premiership player. Real Madrid signed him afterall. We definately need to bring someone in now. Holding off till the summer would be a huge mistake.
Real Madrid signing a player does not == them being a good player. GravyDish had one good season at Everton and that makes him a good buy for united?

We should wait, another season won't kill anyone.

No.

but Gravesen wouldn't.
Fixed.

It's a waste of time signing someone to fill a gap for 3 months. It wastes the clubs money, the fans money, the players time and the clubs time.

Why everyone is so impatient I'll never know.

I tell you why, because we had Giggs and O'Shea in the centre of midfield last match.

I'm glad you're not manager.

It will kill our chances of Champions League football next season having the poorest midfield I've seen in my lifetime. It will kill the morale (what's left of it anyway) of the team being let down by a sub-standard midfield that Ferguson CAN fix if he took his 'old man set in his ways' glasses off. But more importantly it's killing us.. the fans watching this midfield being outplayed and outclassed nearly every game by bottom of the league teams.

Ferguson has granted a lot of our older players who really should be moving on 4-5 yr contracts, including Giggs and Scholes last season. He's given Fletcher, O'Shea vastly improved and longer contracts last September/October. He sees our future in players that are past their sell by date and young players who really shouldn't be playing professional football. I'd say there's reason for concern. The future's bleak, the future's Ferguson.

I got excited there as I thought we actually had bought a midfielder.

As others have said, Scholes going out when he actually looked like he might hit some form is a blow, and we really need a decent experienced midfielder to hold us together. If Fergie doesn't buy one we're in big trouble.

No chance, Ferguson knows we would be screwed at the back if this happened. He's loaned Jones out aswell (who made the bench a few times).
Unless he's finally thinking of deploying Rossi in Scholes position (his natural position) then he will buy someone.

Scholes was no great shakes when he was playing this season (or the 2 prior) so he won't be missed as a player, only in number.

I'd rather wait until the summer than just buy someone for the sake of it. Then they can buy a good young player instead of GravyDish.

Graveson has had his season statistics listed out across several seasons and came out as one of the most consistently excellent players in Europe, and thats for EVERTON!
