Manager Merry Go Round 2014

So it certainly appears Van Gaal is due to be announced as the manager tomorrow (according to pretty much every journalist there is).

Exciting!

Tiger Tim looks to be on the way out. He hasn't been terrible but he is not that great either. Our biggest signing would be a manager who could get the best out of the players we have who, on paper, should be excellent.

I have gone off FdB quite a lot recently. His constant commentary on his candidature for Tottenham is not unlike one of our ex managers who got tapped up for a bigger job whilst with us.

If FdB is doing it now, I would be surprised to see it happen if he does well at Spurs and Barca come calling.

Pochetinno is a better fit for me even if he is not as glamorous (and who would blame him for telling Spurs to do one give our recent past). He has been really excellent as a manager and was dignified when the Southampton turmoil hit earlier in the season.

Ogden:

No LVG announcement this week. No dramas, just a case of getting season finished and out of the way.

Have to wait then. :(

Giggs is going to be his assistant by the sound of it too.

Just read this too.

After everything he has been saying recently Im surprised PK isnt coming with LvG from the Dutch national setup

I wouldnt worry too much.
I think its pretty much a done deal.
We are getting LvG.

If the existing players still cannot raise their game, then they will have to be sold.
And the fans cannot complain- we are getting a top class manager, so we have to get behind him....no matter what.

I'm certainly expecting big things...just as Chelsea, Man City, Real, Barca and Bayern fans expect to win the title every years, I too expect Man Utd to be gunning for the title at the end of next season (and every sesaon).

Maybe he wants to get the World Cup over with first, if he's announced before the tournament he'll spend the whole tournament being asked questions about United.

Yar jub noo is to get behin yar new marnager.

It's okay, United are a club that give their managers plenty of time, they aren't like all the other riff raff. :p

if he isn't announced before the world cup then we will know he is the new manager either way. There is no chance we would wait till after the world cup to appoint a new manager so the only reason we wouldn't have a manager by then officially is because he has agreed to be our manager already.

The media wouldn't let something like that get in the way of pestering him

Louis van Gaal has told BBC Sport he wants to become the new manager of Manchester United.

"I would love the job," said Van Gaal. "I hope that I shall be the one. It's the biggest club in the world and it's a fantastic challenge."

The 62-year-old has been the overwhelming favourite for the role since the dismissal of David Moyes just over a fortnight ago.

It is anticipated United will confirm the appointment early next week.

The Netherlands boss was speaking at the start of a three-day World Cup training camp.

But despite the huge speculation surrounding him, Van Gaal is refusing to accept the job is his.

"You (the media) are thinking I'm the man but the most important thing is whether Manchester United are thinking that," he said.

Van Gaal will not be free to join United until after the World Cup.

And it is clear he is not willing to allow discussion over his future to interfere with his plans for Brazil, having failed to qualify for the 2002 tournament in his first attempt at the role.

"I have to focus on my job," he said.

"I am coach of the Dutch national team. I have waited a long time to be in a World Cup so that's very important.

"This doesn't affect me. I have always had offers. I know what the football world is and what it means."

Didn't expect any comment from him! He's definitely interested then... are we waiting to see if someone else is available or what?!

Waiting for the end of the season I heard earlier.

Yes, everyone thinks it'll be announced early next week now, but "I hope that I shall be the one." implies there are others in the frame. As does:

"You (the media) are thinking I'm the man but the most important thing is whether Manchester United are thinking that"

Maybe he's winding them up. :p

Van Gaal is a journo's nightmare. :D

In other news, Blanc has signed a new contract at PSG. Be happy Arsenal fans!
