Manchester United vs Liverpool 09/01/11 and other 3rd round FA Cup matches *SPOILERS*

Anyway, lets just get Webb's knighthood for services to Utd out of the way so we can move on.

Howard Webb's children have posted messages of support and to deny that their Father is a Man Utd fan on Facebook.

Bobby, Denis, George and Cristiano have all showed their disgust at the suggestion.

Was it last 5 times United and Liverpool have met in cup matches the winning team lifts the trophy of that competition (some finals though?)

Pains me to say it but I agree with Daglish about the FA and they should get a sense of humour regarding the Ryan Babbel situation. Of course it can be construed as disrespectful to Howard Webb but really there are worse things going on in the world at the moment

Can't say I'm bothered either way. Don't think it's done any damage but on the other hand if he spent as much time and effort with his football as he does with Twitter he might amount to something.

It doesn't even pain me to say it. The FA are a joke themselves.

The FA need to lighten up and as has been said by others, they need to concentrate on far bigger issues than this.

Babel needs to grow up too though; he's a kid and just can't help himself. Despite the club banning players from saying anything, he spent all morning before the announcement that Hodgson was sacked, hinting and joking about it on twitter.

Come to think of it, he got in trouble with the club last season for telling people on twitter that he wasn't in the side the day before a game.

Stick him in the middle of Salford with a City shirt on and see how many City fans come to save him :p

:D

Salford is such a dive but at least its got the right following :)

(I lived there for four years - thankfully long ago)

I have watched the Berba replay loads and can't see contact. I can't tell either way.

Definite contact imo - although very slight

No doubt there will be penalty claims at Anfield later in the season which are just as dubious (although correct by the letter of the law)

On paper some sort of 3-5-2 system looks the perfectly suited to the players we have available however it's a big switch to go from 4 at the back to 3. We did actually play the odd game with 3 at the back under Benitez but we never looked comfortable with it. Although tbf, I don't think it's a system you can just switch to overnight, you've got to be committed to it and probably something you've got to bring in during pre-season.

Well it seems Dalglish agrees with me and has gone with my suggestion of 3 at the back, wing backs, Kuyt up front (obviously with Kelly establishing himself in the side this year it's him instead of Aurelio - makes sense).

Clean sheet and a win against Chelsea who have the most expensive strikeforce in the history of British football (£89m). Game before, clean sheet and a win against Stoke who aren't the easiest to deal with, Carew and Jones feeding off crosses from Etherington and Pennant, if you put it out for a throw in then it is launched in by Delap, or you put it out for a corner or give away a freekick then Huth and Shawcross come up from the back.

Seems to be working to me, I know some people say players need to stick with with what they know formation wise, but for me it's pretty simple, pick the best formation to suit what players you have (adjusting for the opposition sometimes of course). Glen Johnson, perfect wingback, his positional sense isn't the greatest defensively but with Agger and Carragher on the flanks of Skrtel there is some cover if he goes walkabout, it's not like playing 4-4-2 where there is a massively liability in terms of balls in behind him, Carragher having no pace to cover which means either they get in round the back or the other centreback is left massively isolated against the strikers.
