Manchester United vs Liverpool 09/01/11 and other 3rd round FA Cup matches *SPOILERS*

He took one more step and was off balance, at the time I didn't think it was a penalty and straight after when they showed it but if you look at where Webb is he couldn't have known how much contact there was.

Your defender shouldn't have even been sticking a leg out anyway, he was going nowhere. Asking for trouble dangling a leg in the box.

If Webb cant see it he relies on his assistant who had a clear view, but since your admitting he couldn't see it he just gave a penalty anyways, safer thing to do is not give a penalty if your linesman doesn't flag.
Wouldn't say he's biased, but shot under pressure.

He took another step and on the second decided to dive.

Again people bringing up gerrard I don't care, you can't say, he dives so I'll dive and that's my arguement. Or is it an eye for an eye on here?

No it's not an eye for an eye on here but when Liverpool fans are shouting and moaning because they thought it was a dive, it serves as a gentle reminder that your beloved Captain is more than capable of falling over himself.

I don't really care if the linesman saw it or not, fact of the matter is he gave the penalty because there was contact, now argue all you want about it, fact of the matter is, he gave it and Giggsy slotted it home.

End of :)

Again reminding me of Gerrards ability to go down easily is completely irrelevant. You just said Webb couldn't see if their was contact and you don't care if the linesman didn't give it, but now Webb saw the contact so he gave it?
Sir Ryan should have been sent of for his two footed of the ground tackle against Brum(bowyer), therefore since he didn't you cannot justify Gerrard being sent off against you just like I cannot justify that berbatov dived and it was cheating and never a penalty by that logic.

Hilarious how Babel getting probed by FA over a picture that's been on every club site or football forum for a few years, yet nothing done about Dimitars dive or webbs inconsistently **** refereeing

I reminded you because you asked! You didn't seem to understand why United fans bought Gerrard into it, I cleared that up for you I thought :/

WTF has Ryan Giggs got to do with it? I remember Ruddock not being sent off against Everton years ago but that doesn't mean it has any relevance here!

Babel is being probed because he is a professional footballer (debateable) and has publically come out and said the referee was a cheat, he's not your average Joe on a forum that is posting it for the LuLz and tbh if you don't understand that I can see why you struggle on here.

What has Gerrard got to do with this then, both assessments from completely different matches on whether a play dives or deserves sent off, just showing you why bringing up Gerrard is pointless.

He never suggested he was a cheat and if the FA had any clue on the context of most of babels twitter posts they'd realise it was a joke.
It's alright for players to be called cheats by other players and managers but referees aren't?
Sorry maybe I struggle because it defies common sense on how the FA is run and what they investigate and probe.

Strike a light!

You asked why MU fans were brining Gerrard into it, I expalined that it is hypocritical for Liverpool fans to call out anyone else when Gerrard is the worst for it. What don't you understand about that exactly?

He posted a picture of the referee wearing a United shirt, I don't think I should have to explain that one in great deal really and if Rio Ferdinad had posted it I would call him a stupid **** and said he should get what he deserves.

Has Ryan Giggs ever made a malicious tackle?

Im sure he has made late ones (and the yellow's to prove it) but I doubt if any of them are malicious (one of the many reason why he is so highly respected within the profession)

1/2 the thing about two-footed in the air tackles is their intent (ie because you cant pull out of the tacke/ the lack of control while in the air)

which is why the commentary about Rafael's tackle a few minutes before was making a mountain out of a molehill, yes it can clearly be seen that he initially jumps two footed, but he lands his side of the ball, feet together (heels planted in the ground) and both feet connected fully with the ball , as though he actually pulled out of the "full" tackle, and there was no malicious intent at all (Im sure it could well have been nasty IF the full tackle was completed)

It's alright for players to be called cheats by other players and managers but referees aren't?.

Does the word "impartial" mean anything to you? That is what referees need to be (and just as importantly need to APPEAR to be) at all times

Thats why Babels twitter was such an idiotic thing to do from a Liverpool player

(I dont know why any other player -from another team - would do it, but for instance if a Chelsea/Arsenal (or any other team) player did it instead I would expect the FA to come down just as strongly. Remember something like that could play on a referees mind if the FA wasnt seen to step in , which could just as easily bias a decision one way or another inaccurately in a future fixture)

Well it's a bit hypocritical for United fans to call Gerrard a **** for his tackle when Sir Ryan deserved an early shower vs Brum( yes I realise he is a humble player but intent was there after bowyer had just left one late in on him).

Rafael landed right side of the ball, had meireles not pulled out there would have been contact anyways, so bit like saying if carsick pulled out.

The whole picture thing is difference of opinions, refereeing should be open to criticism from the public, pundit or played, bare in mind it was merely a joke, just happens with his record at OT abit of truth in it might be seen by some people.

Edit:@ Frank, I wasn't suggesting any club/player would be treated differently, just suggesting if they can't be open to critiscm and it undermines the game, go complain to FIFA and get in challenges like they have in NFL, fanning about fining players because they have a voice or a joke is stupid.

Not like fergie got punished for complaining of clattenberg a while back but fined for saying a refs fitness wasn't up to scratch, really no consistency considerin it's already stupid enough

So you understand why Gerrard was mentioned now? Good.

All this Sir Ryan and Carsick BS is that a crap attempt at trolling?

The picture is not a difference of opinion, every single Liverpool fan I know rolled their eyes at it and said what a prat he was for doing it, whether he's right or not, joke or not, someone in his position shouldn't even consider doing something so stupid.

I don't remember any Liverpool fan on here saying how great he was for doing it, correct? maybe, stupid? most definetely.

The difference there is that Managers are asked their opinion in every interview about the referee and will often shoot themselves in the foot in the heat of the moment.

Babel, got changed, went home, logged on and still posted it, stupid beyond belief when you think about it.

Would like to applogise for my post on sunday, to both man u and liverpool fans. It was an afwul remark and will never happen again. Some times people have brain farts, on sunday my brain just ****. Sorry. You know you've done wrong when even Gimp is disgusted.

I have watched the Berba replay loads and can't see contact. I can't tell either way.

Me too. The fact that several Mancs on here have said it was a dive and not a penalty says a lot.

Anyway, lets just get Webb's knighthood for services to Utd out of the way so we can move on.
