Yup, then I have been to a few really dingy places in Manchester full of locals who hate students and havent seen one problem all night.

Like you say its peoples experiences.

If you want to get hit on by guys thats your lookout. Gladly it doesn't happen often in Yorkshire.

Thats because Yorkshire men are all ugly.

I dont understand the perception amongst straight guys that the moment they walk into a gay bar they're going to be inundated by gay man trying to have sex with them.

They wouldnt think the same about women in a straight bar, so why the difference?

It also seems that the uglier the man the more prevalent the view, when the opposite is obviously the case.

Maybe its an insecurity thing......

If you are walking the Academy is around a 15-20 minute walk from Piccadilly. So you could pretty much stay anywhere and there are lots of pubs/bars/clubs not far from the Academy.

Did someone move the Acadmedy? It is still next to Whitworth park isn't it? Allow at least 30 minutes to walk there from Piccadilly. There is not a lot of accomadation in the immediate area, but town is a short bus ride away, and there is plenty of places to stay there. Bar-wise there are a few in the area, with a personal favourite, Kro-Bar just the other side of the road.

Found a travel lodge room with a £29 discount so it's only £26/night for up to 3 adults. 1.4 miles away from the Academy :D

Book early, you need to book 2 weeks in advance otherwise you lose it. They also sell out very quickly, so, if you are sure, go abd book.

finally, those rooms are non-refundable, thus, makesure you want it.

Just finding out if anyone else is coming to the gig today then will book the tickets and room tonight :D

If you can try and call them and book over the phone. Twice I have booked a travel lodge online and twice they screwed up and I ended up having to call them!

One of the best nights out in Manchetser, tbh.

Decent bars, less likelihoof of some <expletive deleted> beating you up, good atmosphere in the bars.

Whats not to like?

Very true. Went out with the ex and a few mates last year... very good atmosphere!

Only had trouble getting into one place, so two of the guys held hands and they got in no problem :D

I went out in Manchester the other week for a mates 21st. Went into Hard Rock Cafe and then into Pure in the printworks... was a pretty good night.

Obviously not the case, I'm a Yorkshireman.

I said get hit on, lets not be sensationalist about it.

I've been hit on by guys quite a few times in Manchester and it makes me feel uncomfortable. Going into a gay area/gay pub/bar is putting me on their patch and making me a viable target. I wouldn't do that by choice.

Unlucky friend, that happens to me :)
