Manhunt 2 illegal

Well I would never wanted to play this but now I really would like to see what the fuss is all about. To blame a crazy physco's actions on a video game is madness - as is denying the sensible majorities right to see what it is all about.

And if you truely believe a game is what makes someone do this and without that they would lead a normal life then you are delusional.

wasn't there one story where the press totally misinterpreted (spun) the story so that they made it look like the murderer had the game, when actually, it was the victim, then press found out, and they never even bothered telling anyone about it?

yep.

They blamed the game, but the it was the victims game not the killers.

that one was fairly recent a few months back I think, or at least it was reported about recently.

He isn't trying to say anything. The parents of the fourteen year old victim made the above allegations, however.
Yer, but wasn't it the victim that owned the game? which kinda shows they're complete idiots. :\

love this quote

The prime minister has told parliament a violent video game - blamed by some for the death of a Leicester boy - should not be used by children.

oh dear.

Doesn't it have a great big 18 ONLY mark on it too? Parenting was too blame here
well yeah, for starters, it was their kid who owned manhunt, which not only makes them look bad for letting him have an 18 game, but what's mind boggling is the fact that they're linking the game to their son's murder, when the murderer didn't have the game .

My guess is the parents are so distraught they want to blame something.

I mean if someone kills a total stranger, with no motive, then who do you blame? Why not the moon cycle?

BBFC are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites! What gives the censor the right to play a game that we cannot! How do we know that he doesn't secretly go out at night and kill random people?

well i actually agree if this game just invovles stalking someone then beating them to death for no reason, what kind of an idiot would want to play a game like that?? Stuff like GTA is different as they actually have plots and theres a reason to kill...

And who's to say what other games the censors will go after?
FPS? That genre is violent too.

From that article:

He confessed to the killing when found covered in blood by two police officers shortly afterwards. Peter Joyce QC prosecuting told the court that the defendant had planned to rob his younger friend to help repay a drugs debt.

So it wasnt because he was a smack head, it was the game? lmao

I agree with you here, but;

That is what worries me...

What I'm hoping is that the BBFC thought "Okay, this game is mindless killing of innocent people" and drew a line. If that line stays there, then fine. I wasn't going to play that kind of game anyway.

But if that line moves to, say, GTA, Fear - or Bioshock even - then things are getting out of hand.

I really hope that Manhunt 2 was a truley sick and disturbing game that was stepping over the line. If it wasn't, then I really hope that the BBFC don't start doing this elsewhere. I'd rather they bought in a 21 certificate than start getting stupid about games.

This is why I abhor censorship! Who the hell gave those muppets the right to say what I can and can't do? If I want to play a game where you do nothing but kill innocent people then it should be my right to be able to without some jumped up suit dictating to me.

The kid was 14, why didn't they spend the money they wasted on banning the game prosecuting the people who sold it to him, or the parents if they purchased it and then gave it to him?

It absolutely fine to air shows like The Soprano's, which glorifies killing to some extent but yet they ban a game which will probably reach less than a tenth the amount of people that of the afformentioned show does.

Absolute idiots.

BTW - The Sopranos is class, I love it :D
