Manhunt 2 illegal

watching something happen and making something happen are two different things. Games make young impressionable people think its ok to do certain things. No matter what certificate is on a product young people WILL get their hands on it, and thats a FACT.

It says the murderer was obsessed with the game if you read the article :)

I'm obsessed with Kate Beckinsale, but I'm not about to go out and make her "My Wife now Dave"! :)

I agree with what you're saying, but I don't think banning games like this is the right way to go about it. I suppose there isn't really any other way, hopefully future releases will take notice and not make such pointless games.

What was the first one even about? I've never played it.

oh my good god this is sad, wasent that bloke who killed his younger friend a werido with mental problems anyway? Or something similar, the first game isnt even that violent imo, postal 2 and SOF1+2 are more violent/gory. There are films like hostel which are much more sick than these games they dont get banned, its pathetic games dont cause people to be violent.

well i actually agree if this game just invovles stalking someone then beating them to death for no reason, what kind of an idiot would want to play a game like that?? Stuff like GTA is different as they actually have plots and theres a reason to kill...

Erm Manhunt one had a much bigger plot than GTA? You did have a reason to kill them. It was a pretty good story actually. You had to kill to survive, and they wernt wernt random people, they were evil deranged/demented gang members who behead people and stuff.

It's the way they do it though. SOF was combat against enemies that were trying to shoot you, from what I've heard Manhunt is just about killing without real reason. Not very imaginative, I would've thought a reputable studio like Rockstar could come up with something better.

:edit: Just read the above post. Maybe it's not so bad then.

It's no use defending the videogames industry, how much imature crap is released.

The movie industry release their fair share of slasher movies, but there's such a wide range of titles, you can let these slip through.

The videogame industry releases regular sports/driving games, but after that it's ultra violent crap and a few oddities.

The difference with games such as Manhunt and films such as Hostel is choice. You can choose whether to simply slay your enemy quickly or take your time using whatever implement springs to mind.It encourages people to make decisions based on cruelty limited only by their imagination and the game rules in place(more so than the usual violent acts in games).

You don't have the power to make that choice in films.Imagine if you could though..actors/actresses doing your bidding. With graphics becoming more realistic the line between movies and games is becoming increasingly blurred.

Having said that, games or films(no matter how violent) aren't to blame.People with the constitution for murder will be tipped over the edge by any manner of stimulii..conversations,stories,pornography,games,films etc.Censorship in this manner is awful..it will not stop sick people killing and it will certainly guarantee this game's success with the very demographic the censors are trying to protect.

Banning something imo just makes people want it more. Same as putting an 18 rating on a game. All 12 year old think, wow i must have it because 18 games are cool.

i loved carmageddon when i was younger.

"i was in the war" splat!

Haha, yes. they were the days.

Banning this game is just encouraging piracy, I might make some copies of it and sell them at my local school just to **** off the authorities.
