Are you trying to say the 780TI SLI result is wrong, cos its not. Look at the old Thief thread for multi gpu results @1080p.

It really does. It needs Mantle without a shadow of a doubt. This is on Unreal Engine 3 as well. About as favorable an engine towards Nvidia as you can find. Look at the minimum fps. Thief needs Mantle more than Battlefield 4 does.

I'm not saying they are wrong, I'm just weary of it when there's other scores contradicting it.

Also, for Mantle to get higher mins than averages is nothing short of a miracle

It proves nothing though. Those 780TI results are accurate. I don't have a lot of different results to compare to but Greg and Scotty both posted SLI results in the old Thief thread, both with heavily clocked gpu's.

Same here.. and i also ran my 2700K underclocked to 2.5GHz on BF4 and saw no difference in FPS from a 4.5GHz overclock.

Now thats the Mantle Effect

Shame I dont have the game I could have posted some benchmarks, although I'm 1920x1200 (good old 16:10).

Let's say those results are accurate, lets say every benchmark is accurate. I'll also give the nod on Mantle performing better..... my point in no 4 still remains, yes there is the willy waving contest of who gets more fps, but the engine is so weak compared to todays cards that point 4 is very relevant.

Maybe if you clicked the images matt posted you see that he made typo on the min and avg.
Look at the images and be wowed how good mantle is performing on thief with crossfire.

Let's say hypothetically, any AMD concotion gets a bajillion fps, with me ? And poor little nVidia gets 100.

You get to wave your willy and I'm wowed in amazement, but Point 4 still stands.

But it does, explain for someone like myself who own a 120hz display getting over 120fps avg vs dx that can't even hit 100avg. Is mantle not needed?

No but it benefits me more so therefore to me it's needed.
So your point 4. Is based on your own option because you haven't got the epic mantle api.

Edit and I not even tested dx crossfire with thief so not sure if 100fos avg is correct maybe matt can answer that one am sure he has benchmark both api

80, 90, 100, whatever... point is the game is perfectly playable with DX for both AMD and nVidia. So its not needed.

But it is needed to enjoy the effects of 120hz. Do you own a 120hz monitor? If you do you would understand maintaining a 120fps is just stunning. Response time and motion blur plus input lag reduced.

And looking at matt rresults he could enjoy a 144hz display with thief to its max effect. Something that dx can't offer.
So again yes it is needed.
