Ok, lets put this to bed.

Jez told me in the first telephone conversation we had that he intended to offload the car at some point, possibly before the impending (and rather expensive) inspection service.

No problem to me, why would I care?

I didn't want the car any more, Jez had the cash I wanted to the nearest few hundred. Deal done, Jez gets a proven car, I get my cash.

While i wasnt planning on posting back in this thread as i dont think its anyones business, i will reply to you as i want to make it clear to yourself and the forum that (i hope!:)) there is absolutely no secrecy between ourselves about my intentions for the car, what i planned to do with it, etc.

As i said earlier, and as i said to merlin at the time, its a bit of fun in an awesome car for a while, i have not priced it for a quick sale as i am in absolutely no hurry to sell it, and its the best colour combo, i just thought that i might as well advertise it as i will let it go at any point if someone has the right number of reddies available, and they fancy what is a quite hard to come by model of this car. I am actually saving very hard for a house, but sadly have an obsession with cars, by buying in a cash situation i help the seller by providing an easy quick sale - so they are happy, and then by selling it at my leisure afterwards i can drive very nice expensive cars without having to pay to do so. It also means i get a good veriety of cars.

Hopefully thats that. :) Btw, mickey, i paid more than £1000 income tax & NI last month, please dont preach to me about it. As Andy says i am actually in the process of getting registered as i plan to scale this up a bit - i am not a fraudster.

Why did you lie in the advert then? And it doesn't matter how much tax & NI you pay, if it's not enough then it's not enough.

I sorta agree with you here, I mean looking at my last pay slip I paid about £1400 in NI and Income Tax, but I also made a few £ on the side which my accountant interpreted to another £1500 worth of Tax and NI.

I don't see any reason why you should escape paying this extra money!

God what is it with people! Are you saying that if the opportunity to take say £500-£1000 home tax free for once you would declare it and pay your taxes on it?? Just look at the costs invloved with buying a house! stamp duty etc etc. the goverment take enough money off of us as it is! I just earned £5 off a mate for sorting a problem with his PC, suppose I should go declare this and register my business before someone on here tells me off!

He shouldn't pay because other forum members like him...obvious really.

In all fairness, it isn't really any of your business mate, if he gets caught for not paying the taxes etc on the money then thats his lookout, not yours :)

I made £140 for doing some work on someone's car for them, do I need to be taxed on that?

Its known as "cash in hand" ;) :)

I often have that opportunity, maybe i'm just too honest for my own good.

Well I personally declare everything I earn, it just makes everything much simpler, but I wouldn't accept money from a mate for helping him out anyway tbh.

In all fairness, it's everyones business who pays their taxes.

Imagine for a minute that it's not income tax...it's car insurance, someone posts saying they don't bother paying because they only drive a couple of thousand miles a year, and they've paid it for their other car anyway. What would your reaction be? You'd be mad that they don't bother when you have to, right? Same thing in my eyes.

That was a fictional event so no worries about taking money off a mate. TBH I really don't see why anybody should get upset about someone else making money and not declaring it, if they too have the opportunity and don't take it then thats up to them. If the person get caught then they have to deal with the consequences whilst Mr. Honest sits back and smiles happy in the though that he has paid his taxes and will never have to worry. Its all down to wether or not you want to take a risk. Obv. Jez has sampled the market and seen there is profit to be made and is now going to do it all above board (Good luck with it all mate!)
