Can someone, for my benefit, detail all of the new rules and mechanical changes teams will need to make to their cars for next season please?

Probably answered in the 2010 thread:

or at the very least thats a better place to ask.
Basically I think its:
- ban on refuelling will mean bigger fuel tank
- increase on minimum car weight
- slightly narrower front tyres, not sure if theres any change to the rears

I really don't understand McLaren's logic in putting Kimi alongside Hamilton. What is the point?

Maybe they're hoping they can compromise Kimi's strategy race after race and he won't care that much because he is such a passive character?

Kimi's perfect alongside Hamilton. He won't care about Hamilton at all. As long as he is getting in a fast car and going round the track with an ice cream on a stick he is happy as larry.

Main reason: decent constructor points winner. Kimi can perform, and has been doing so quite regularly.

By the same token though. If there was no safety car, Rosberg would have still been in front of button. All swings and roundabouts

who cares about Rosberg from a championship point of view though -it is possible button could have beaten Rubens by more points without the safety car;)
