Marines and Paras differences?

Doesn't the FFL have one or two Britsh AWOLs ? I forget where I read that.

It seems a common place for deserters to go in the hope of avoiding punishment...although it often doesn't work out that way. Desertion rates in the FFL are massive and if you are hoping to gain French citizenship after 5 years, you are out of luck as that requires you to register under your own identity and not simply a declared one, you need your passport to join the FFL these days...and as part of the EU it is only a small matter to get AWOLs returned to the UK.

DaZe - Have you spoken or visited your local AFRC? (Armed Forces Recruitment Centre).

They will have a representative from all three servcies and will be the best placed to advise based on your chosen career path etc. You may be able to speak with the Army / Navy Recruiter in the same visit?!

:)

What's your opinion on the Royal Netherlands Marines?

I know they have quite a close relationship with the RM, so I've always assumed they must be trained to a similarly high standard.

My mate joined the Marines, went all over the world loved it and when he came out joined the Australian Police force. Going for their Tactical group now. Being a Marine set him up for life.

Good luck what ever you decide.

That sounds good, I've read about people coming out of the Army and becoming Postmen and **** like that, so it's nice to know that it does set you up for life.

I've been before about becoming an Officer in the AAC, but I've never spoke to them about the Paras/Marines. I've been busy the last couple of days so I'll try and get something arranged with them before the end of the week.

Thanks for the replies

Came off test week with injured ankle(30 miler...:()
went back to unit to prepare for another try but a couple of months in i got fed up and decided to transfer to a non Cdo unit and get on with my career, which looking back on it was a mistake knowing myself that i was capable of it, but those are the decisions you make, just got to make the most of it.
however i have found myself flying in a regular unit.
