Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy Bench Thread

Ummm...

Is there a far cry 6 bench thread? My search isn't picking one up (though I'm rushing on the way home, may have missed it) , so nothing to compare this thread to go on.

Don't see what the issue is, especially if the RT benches can be added due to popular demand as well.

Let's to the pros and cons of Ray tracing and vram elsewhere. If there's anything not already covered...

Looking forward to seeing how these benches go!
Appreciate the support Bill.

Truth be told I was going to do a Far Cry 6 bench thread, but given the furore the requirements to run the HD Texture pack caused in the other thread i thought it was a bad idea.

I was going to go with F1 2021 built in benchmark, but the effort required to validate results in that one is difficult because users have to upload the benchmark results (saved in a CSV file) and then post it to the thread. I then have to analyse the csv file to validate the settings used and results. It's too much effort.

So I went with this game since it has a built in benchmark and lists the settings used on the results screen so it is low hanging fruit with validating results.

No FC 6 thread, surprised one hasn't been created though. But know for a fact that the HD texture pack wouldn't be disabled for the same logic/reason as used here :p And funny thing is if so, there are less gpus (or rather owners of said capable gpus) capable of running the game with the HD texture pack (if we keep to the "cards must have support for said settings to be used") than there are gpus out there with ray tracing support (or again, better to say owners of ray tracing capable gpus)

But I digress.....

And exactly, no issue if it is added as an "extra" to no RT benches but to not add it at all is just stupid, basically hamstringing results for reasons....

As for the "because not enough people have ray tracing capable cards" etc. then what's the point of these ray tracing benchmark threads?

https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/crytek-neon-noir-bench.18906749/

https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...eature-test-port-royal-bench-thread.18838895/

Also, looking at the results, looks like a good amount have ray tracing capable cards there (not a surprise though given we are on an "enthusiast" forum where majority of people have new cards from the last 2 years).....

There's a difference there though, GPUs like the 3080 can run the HD Texture pack even though they don't meet the requirements, they just suffer from texture issues, FPS drops and stuttering so that is not comparable. There is no hardware required that prevents the option from being enabled and used.

GPUs without RT cores cannot run RT in games. The option to enable RT is greyed out. I've tested this game (and others like SOTTR, Far Cry 6, Resident Evil, Cyberpunk 2077, The Medium, Control) and it is not possible to enable RT effects in graphics cards that lack dedicated RT cores.

Neon Noir does not require dedicated RT cores so it is not comparable to games. I hope this makes it easier for you to understand.

Sounds like running older games on Windows 11 may be an issue. If that's the case, will there be a massive fuss caused about the lack of "Cannon Fodder 2" benchmarks from enthusiasts unable to run it because of their early OS adoption? :p

As per your words (and many times...) though and according to ubi, any GPU with less than 16GB vram should not be installing the HD texture pack? Thus inferring that any GPU with <16GB cannot use the HD texture pack?

And as per those 2 threads (more so the 3dmark one), do you not think there is enough people with ray tracing capable GPUs? Again, enthusiast forum where most people on here have GPUs with RT support....

TBH, no need to make a big deal out of this, just simply have another thread or in this thread with 2 sections showing rasterization and ray tracing results, it's a win win as it shows the full picture unless there is another reason you only want one set of results to be shown/visible?

This is fair. And also what he said he'd do...

If there is enough activity I will add extra sections, that's why there are reserved posts. But if there's not much activity over time I probably won't bother.

However, Nexus is welcome to create and maintain his own thread, I have no objections if he wants to manage a RT only thread for this or other games which I will contribute too if I have the game installed.

Oh and if I decide to do a Far Cry 6 and/or F1 2021 thread, Ray Tracing will be disabled there also. :)

Turning of ray tracing settings?

Really.......

@TNA grab the popcorn :D

LMAO... seriously it's 2021 even the consoles have ray tracing now... Or is this another AMD Fanboy thread ? Should be two benchmarks then RT OFF and ON.

Either do it right or don't bother really. Getting tired of such stupid threads to push a certain point of view. It's nothing but spam now, fanboy rubbish or never ending mining chat on the gpu section.

Maybe we should also set it to 320 x 240 resolution too ?

Bring back @Kaapstad for such threads ( a real tech enthusiast with no brand loyalty so no BS and funny business ... not company employees with a motive... it's getting really old now this behaviour.. )

We might as well all just sell on our cards from the last 2-3 years and go back to non-rt gpus + reduce/turn off graphical settings or tell nvidia/amd, developers not to bother with ray tracing... :o

But you do you :)

Either way looking forward to seeing the results as the game is visually stunning and performs very well on all setups.

I think your post is spam since you have no interest in contributing any results just come here to derail and insult.

Feel free to contribute some benches though If I am mistaken. :)

No one is forced to contribute, its entirely optional and a bit of fun. I think sometimes people forget that when you read the tone of some posts that obviously feel the need to defend their graphics card purchase/and or insult others. No need for it really.

Matt it's getting boring now all the spam from you... sorry reality now... Go spam another forum with AMD PR nonsense, you are actually putting people off from buying AMD stuff with this... Sorry I hate this behaviour, I'm a tech enthusiast not a cheerleader for a company or an employee for the company hiding on a retailers forum and trying to none stop advertise your companies wares in some way or another.

Guess what last time was same thing an AMD fanboy on AMDs forums did the same rubbish there and put me off buying another AMD GPU ever again some idiot with the name Sora or something like that at the time, also the 5870 was the last card from AMD I ever purchased for the reason that the tech support were useless on the forum even when showing them the problems and was many of us at the time showing facts but the fanboys and support just tried to hide the issues and in end I sold the card moved on from AMD gpus, only AMD gpu in use now is in a laptop I have and all cards I have from ATI are retro collectors cards, Amd cards sold right after that and didn't want to keep them as part of the collection. Want me to show you the cards I keep as collectors parts most are ATI ..

When AMD does good the tech enthusiasts will buy their goods... Check the CPU I own ... Why ? ohh wait tech enthusiasts want the best parts at the time. Parts that have been shown to really be the best without made up benchmarks to show them at their best and they fail at everything else.

We have Dave cheerleader for Intel and you for AMD all the time.. selling us all your points of views all the time that are based on rigged rules and benchmarks, or worse made up rubbish.

Again it's 2021 we are in a generation of RT now and all GPUS now have it and the consoles. So why rig the benchmarks ? Yes we know AMD has better raster this gen and Nvidia with it's driver overheads and lower VRAM than AMD cards. Reminder what AMD said DLSS is rubbish and we don't want to be part of reducing visual quality.... ohh wait ...what did they bring out later ?

Also will not contribute some benches to rigged rules... Also there is a reason why I don't normally get involved with such benches, one I either don't own the game or if I do like the Shadows of the tomb raiders, I will be right at top because I own 2 x 3090 in SLI/NVLINK, which no one else here does and is unfair, I can do same in all the threads with benchmark tools but I don't because it's pointless, but I like reading threw them as a tech enthusiast and seeing how hardware is getting better and to use them as a way to check if hardware I own is performing in line with the benchmarks.

What you going to do when games start coming with RT enabled and no option to turn them off like Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, RT cards only for that game and a good few others too. It's 2021 RT is the future from here on for all hardware with gpus, even mobile phones are getting RT AMD gpus.

Please just stick to the topic and post benchmark scores if you want to. Otherwise, don’t post anything it’s just unnecessary and completely off topic. There is really no need to make personal attacks on me as it’s unrelated to the thread topic.

Exactly.... that's how you always react too..

I stuck to the topic the topic is the games benchmarks and as stated the benchmarks are not fair with the rigged settings. The whole point of a benchmark thread is to have a fair set of rules to benchmark with.

There is no personal attack too, it's you that sees it that way and being defensive/playing the victim. Nothing personal just not in the mood for nonsense on a benchmark thread from an employee of a company selling hardware used in the benchmarks too.

Thread is dead before it even started mate, you killed it.

I was actually excited to see the thread and then reading the rigged rules that @Nexus18 pointed out made me laugh really how daft this thread actually is..

Keep up the great PR work for AMD AMDMatt...

This whole thread should be deleted and let @Kaapstad create one and keep it fair for all as he always does in his benchmark threads.

He’s right about RT though Matt. It should be included in game benches where it’s available.

@LtMatt

Please just run the benchmarks again with RT enabled , it would at least give a good overall `picture` of the performance. Yes i know you want to showcase the RX6900XTX, but it would give a balanced view ,now the flashing texture thing is fixed

I’ve explained in the thread why it’s not enabled by default however I will enable it if there’s enough interest and contributions to warrant the extra work.

I’m hoping the dons will clear up the off topic posts so the thread can get back on track.
