They aren't really the same type of game IMO. One is a 3d MMO, one is a isometric ARPG-MMO hybrid. Some people prefer Marvel to DC aswell as the fact they can play with their favourite heroes and such. Also, they are both free.

I prefer Marvel, both comics and this game over DCUO. However I did have a good few months on DCUO, until it died on PS3.
 
You will now get two free heroes. When you start, you will get to choose, Storm, Hawkeye, Thing or Scarlett Witch.
Once you have finished the starter area you will get another hero, obviously not the one you choose at the start.
 
Wait, what? I thought all 5 (Daredevil used to be on that list as well - I pretty sure of that) were meant to be free and all the others were to be picked from the paid roster. Have they changed their stance on that? Shame =/

I think your information is slightly incorrect.

You can pick one of the starters. Which I beleive are still: Thing, DD, Scarlet witch, and Storm.

Then after completing the first mission (the raft) another random one is dropped as "loot".

Yes sorry I left out out Daredevil, he is one of the stating heroes.

starter area = the Raft and yes its dropped by loot. I thought that was quite obvious. ;)

For people who don't want to pay anything towards the game, its not a bad deal.

Had a decent spell on this over the weekend after initially not liking it a few weeks ago. I must say it has grown on me now and I am even more comitted to not buying any heroes and unlocking through drops only, just to keep that excitement and interest in playing.

I think the AH ruined D3 because it took away the thrill of getting a decent drop, when you could just buy one.

Hawkeye is a really good range damage dealer and thing is a really good tank, so it's not like the starting options are rubbish.

I fully expected Cap America to have his quick block ability altered soon, as I played him last night and it made him unkillable.

Pretty sure Hawkeye is now in that list too.

I'm quite enjoying it, I caved and bought the X-Force Founders pack and got a beta key.

I'm really enjoying it so far. Been rocking as Storm. For anyone in it, it says I got 5000g I presume I can just use that to buy another char to test on Beta.

Kinda want to have a go with Deadpool, although a lot of people on the Marvel forum seems to not like him at the moment.
 
Yeah use the G to buy whatever you like from the store in the beta. Should give you plenty of choice, I have not tried Deadpool but a friend that has, says his damage is underwhelming at the minute. Wolverine was the same, but has been boosted now I believe.

Yeah you can Press X access the in game store and purchase more characters to use in the Beta.

The characters and progress will be wiped though. I suggest getting some XP boosts too (these stack) so make leveling new characters more bearable.
 
i used the beta key from the free beta key topic on here, is this open now to play? as the game has disapeared from my steam libary yet is in my steam folder and steam says i already have it when i try to download it again,my house mate has also used the code and his game is available on steam and he has loaded it up anyone else getting this issue?

i tried to launch it from the exe in the steam folder but it says this please run the game through BitRaider.

+1 on this, with the exception of a few (Batman, Cyborg, Deathstroke & Wonder Woman mostly) I couldn't care less for DC, they just have way to many overly powerful characters where as Marvel are more thought out and less blow-up-the-world-with-a-punch. DC is comic's answer to Dragonball Z, except DC doesn't completely suck.

As for Marvel Heroes, really wish they'd let you choose a single character to begin with, I only like Scarlett Witch of the starters. Why couldn't they at least give you a choice of street level characters instead? Punisher, Daredevil, Hawkeye, Iron Fist, people like them and allow players to work up to the stronger characters, would be better imo.

They do give you Daredevil and Hawkeye as starters.
 
I had a go with Spiderman last night, I have to say he was ok but there was something missing about him (granted I havn't got too high of a level) but I was hoping for a bit more swinging around the place.

I got about 3.5gs left, so thinking of getting Thor and Hulk which seem pretty fun. Anyone got any suggestions of fun chars to play. Before I splash out on these two. I currently got Spiderman, Daredevil and Storm.
