Mass Effect 2 Review

Wow, I didn't think Mass Effect could get any better but this game is amazing, I chose the sentinel class for the extra armour but no doubt I'm going to pick another class on my second play through :D.

The only thing I'm not enjoying in this game is the cover mechanics. It's now impossible to lift/throw the cover that enemies hide behind. They seemed to have removed environmental physics!

Think ive become addicting to just scanning planets and side quests missions only im nearly 10hours in and barely touched the main story >.<

Yeah, i've been scanning away today for about 4 hours solid. Really wanted 50k platinum for an upgrade, got it and it didn't do what i expected. lol

Never mind, got nearly 100k of iridium and 60ks of the plasummitsummitium

:D

Superb game. Cannot remember the last time a game sucked a full day out of me without me knowing, well over 10 hours and i still haven't got my team together, i feel its going to be great.

Yeah i di that spent 50k on a suit upgrade i didnt notice any difference lol! Thou i think i prefer ME1 way of how to spend the points cause ME2 you dont seem to notice it early on i mean im doing it on VET and thus far its easy.

Quick question, To any one who has sexed up Miranda, after most missions/side missions i cant seem to get her to speak much now i dont know if its because she isnt into the female lol :P but my character seems to be able to flirt with jacob instantly?

OR is it miranda just takes some effort lol ?

this game is amazing. I completely forgot what time it was yesterday as I was playing, just going through the codex, chatting to characters. Breakfast then straight back into it I think.

I am not happy with the fact that we're forced to scan planets for minerals to an extent, in order to upgrade the ship. How would this affect replayability? I'm buggered if I'm doing that all over again on my second playthrough tbh. It takes too long, even though I enjoy it.

I must have played ME1 10 times over for max achievements and never did I once get bored. I can't see that happening with ME2 due to the planet scanning lark...

They should have some upgrade that you can purchase just as you could once do in "Elite", buy the automatic docking computer. Here they should have an automatic mineral scanner. But make it at least 250,000 of Ir, Pt and Pd so you have to do some scanning.

I have yet to finish the game and think I am about half way through so I have no idea if these ship upgrades actually make any difference or not tbh. I can't help the feeling that mineral drops that you find during missions/exploration should yield a greater amount of the stuff just to make you rely on scanning planets less.

I can't remember the last time I was so pleased with a sequel. I absolutely love this game, continuing with my char from ME1 and really enjoying it. Combat is much more refined, seems much more fluid. Easily an early contender for game of the year 2010. So glad I ignored all the pre-release hype and videos too :)

Agreed, very tiresome and boring now, I hate having to do it! :\

Not sure how i missed the 1st one but i did.
probably been asked before in this thread but do you think it's advisable
to play the first one first ?

My first RPG on the Xbox360 was Fallout3 and i loved that because it seemed "different" to the genre.

Is this true of Mass effect 1 and 2 ?

would i be in for a great space adventure playing the 1st one ?
i hear things about mass effect 2 and its space music, does mass effect 1 have this ?

Anyone else unable to get the armour download? I go to masseffect.com go to redeem code; login with my EA Sports account and it asks for a display name, I enter one, it says its available, choose a portrait and click next and the page just reloads saying "Some fields were not filled in correctly; please try again" and a dotted red line around the display name... tried loads of different ones :/

Holee moly x2. I thought this game got to amazing status with The Collectors. Now it's just gone uber-amazing with The Geth... BioWare have outdone themselves. ME3 has a lot to live up to.

The first is a great game, good story with plenty to do and explore.
Mass Effect 2 so far blows it completely out of the water though imo!
I would also play the first game through before the second, I keep on bumping into characters on ME2 who you deal with in ME1, and its nice to know about the history between them.

probably get the 1st one then when the prices calm down again.
they've stuck them up since number two came out lol.

did i just say number two. :o

Finished now. 30h10m game time. Incredible. Just incredible. It bettered Mass Effect by 3x at least. Not one bit of texture pop-in or frame-rate trouble this time around either.
