Hrm so the general consensus is that savegames won't make much difference at all? Might save me doing another ME2 playthrough, which I really don't have the time for anyway...

According to BioWare they're pulling in over 1000 variables from ME2 if you import your save game. How big the variables are though is anyone's guess.

They like to talk up consequences and choice but its still pretty minor and limited especially between games. No matter what you do all roads generally lead to Rome.

It always will do, it would be far too much work if they properly catered for everyone's choices, importing your save game gives you a continuity of your playthrough which makes it a more personal experience, it adds more depth and immersion, for me it does anyway.

Exactly while it might not make a huge difference to the game experience. Importing a save file deffo makes it feel more personalised.

Plus its all talk at what the import changes will be in ME3 no one knows yet. For all we know certain things could make a huge difference

Couple of examples

Rachni Queen from ME1 - If you kill her no more Rachni means the excintion of the race. For all we know the Rachni could be a huge army at your disposal in ME3. I dunno about you but that would feel so epic and personalised.

Or

Geth from Legion's loyality quest in ME2 - If you reprogram them again you could have a army of Geth on your side, then again you might end up with another huge Geth army ready to kill you :p

But who knows whats going to happen. Either way im rolling with my import save I would have it no other way.

Maybe because their servers couldn't cope with a simultaneous worldwide release?

This is actually more to do with the release dates set by respective countries.

Then can put the release date forward to the 6th but they actually have to give reasoning to why they would like to release on another day rather than a Friday.

Theres some really odd reasoning about this out there.
