ME3 is still a great game in its own right. ME was never the pinnacle of gameplay but it was just about enough to hold together an epic story (thats why we play ME surely?)
ME3 feels identical to ME2 imo so i could never say it was a bad game as such. Some of the directions are puzzling and disgusting thought.
It was more buggy than previous games, but RPG's in general have lots of dodgy bugs, people appearing out of nowhere, AI doing stupid things, and that vid seemed to come across way more "big" bugs than I found, I don't think I ever got stuck, or had a scripted event go wrong, but animation bugs and companions getting stuck and appearing all over the place happened almost constantly.
Ultimately though, the story let it down, and as much of a shooter it wanted to be, it wasn't one, it was a heavily story focused RPG and it got the story and most of the RPG elements wrong.
Customisation, the inventory wasn't good nor the amount of weapons to be picked up, but the system in ME1 was still FAR better than 2 or 3. Things it got right, there was CONSISTENT upgrades start to finish, where I actually felt more powerful with better guns as the game progressed. I got money in a fashion that combined with what was available so I couldn't buy and max out all the upgrades on one weapon almost instantly.
DLC didn't ruin all upgrading in the game by offering better items from the start than you could get at the end(all games and dev's that do this should be shot). Likewise the ammo/customisation gave FAR greater scope for the SAME weapon to be ineffective against one opponent with one ammo and brilliant with another ammo. It lent itself to having 2-3 weapons decked out with different ammo for different situations, it was part of the tactics of the game.
ME2 and even more so 3, get gun, upgrade it, maxed out after almost one mission...... most ammo changes come via powers, which is too dang easy/quick.
yes the inventory could have done with tweaking and less copies of the same items over and over, but the actual system itself was great and scaled perfectly start to finish, and worked. ME2/3 weapons system were rubbish, nothing good about them at all.
The truly retarded thing is, the "uber" weapons that cost 200k-250k, asides from being really no better, there was a sniper rifle, pistol and shotgun. As an adept generally speaking assault rifle for damage and a super light SMG was the optimum setup for uber recharge speed. How can there be 3 "uber" weapons, available within a few hours playing, that only suit a couple characters?
Likewise Armour was way under done, firstly, can't equip the crew, secondly for all the loads of little bits you get, you can afford a "set" within a few missions easily and all the useful ones are available from the start making it once again stupidly easy to "max out" straight away. They also force you to have a full armour with no choices(in the kits) and cover your face if you use a helmet in half the cutscenes, even with the option to remove the helmet in cutscenes.
The only improvement over ME2 was slightly better power upgrades/usefulness, but they made weapon and armour system worse/less progressive.
This all ignores that I started at lvl 30 on my first play through because I used a ME2 save.... why on earth would it do that?
Also in ME1 there was, because of the gun pickup or slowly being able to afford guns, a reason to alter my playstyle throughout. Sometimes I'd pick up a really powerful sniper rifle and it made more sense to pick shotgun type squad and hang back a bit sniping, sometimes I had a really powerful shotgun and underpowered everything else. Again here it was far too easy to get the gun you want, most were useless, and you could upgrade it(with almost no effect anyway) too easily and use the same gun for the majority of the game.
Whilst I agree, I think it does fine without this aspect tbh....bit unrealistic that your squad must have the worst weapons in the galaxy for some reason as every container you open in ME1 has a weapon/armour more powerful than the one you are using. IMO that is one RPG element which is not really missed. I don't have a problem with a few weapons which you can upgrade as you go tbh. I know upgrading your gear is a key aspect of gameplay progression, but I don't find it essential in a game like this, I think it kind of suits it.(note that I would not be saying this in any other RPG such as Dragon Age, Skyrim etc)
The genophage was one of the more difficult choices for me in ME2. So many things to consider. The only 'right' choice would have been not meddling with them in the first place, but now that we have to deal with it... i think i went with keeping it how it is (no ME3 spoiler, this is ME2 remember). They don't seem to be advancing much and i quite like the Salarian doctor
Funniest game ive ever played, main character runs like hes got a really bad case of the farmer giles, and definately needs to lighten up a little
Im surprised the enemy dont all stop shooting in disbelief, and start guffawing like the aliens on the smash adverts of old.
basicly no matter what option i choose (save rachni queen or let her die) my game crashes to a black screen after the cutscene where
Grunt comes out of the cave not dead
If i upload the save game can someone just try it on there ME3? I cant get past this bit of the game and i DO NOT want to satrt again. can you let the queen live?
Its about 2 minutes of gameplay and a cutscene thats all. Ive even tried re starting the mission
Mordin and Tali died on me, any way to change at least Tali? When geth is uploading code i choosed let it upload...instead to stop Legion, what did you people do?
I'm just waiting for my game to explode now, as I edited my save file so that I romanced Liara, Ashley and Miranda, and so far, I have continued them all!
I run Origins through steam to access my screen shot button. If you have steam, just go to Add Game and add the Origins start up. Doesn't interfere with anything, can still run MP and connect to EA no problem. Screen shots end up in the Steam folders though.
I sided with the Krogan. Just couldn't face deceiving them. They were screwed over real bad in the first place imo. The Salarian support is no huge loss.
