Mass Effect trilogy

A unique series of games that are definitely worth playing. I have played ME about 8 times, ME2 about 8 times, and ME3...once, and a half.

^Unless Texmod has drastically improved it's loading times, I found it more hassle than it is worth tbh, especially for the first game.

Started ME. Downloaded higher res textures and used RadeonPro to enable some much needed AA, SMAA etc. On Eden Prime currently

Agreed. TexMod is a must for ME3 but found a nice loader for ME1 that doesn't take as long... in fact loads instantly

I can't believe you'd play the third installment of an RPG without first going over the other two! You are completely mad, so much storyline spoiled!

Anyway yeah, people should play at least ME1 - it was truly epic and it really felt like something new. To me ME2 felt pretty pants in comparison and put me off playing 3, which I've still not bothered with!

I have been on the Bioware forums recently, and you would not believe the number of people on there who played them out of order, and even recommend not playing ME1!...There was a thread on there a few days ago, where someone new to the series was asking whether he should start with the first game or not, and I was pretty much the only one telling him to, almost everyone else said not to bother!....and that is a Mass Effect fan site!

I am actually starting to hope that Bioware really does not listen to it's fans tbh with some of the strange views they hold there:p

Has anyone here played them on console first before playing them on PC?
If so, how did you find the transition from pad to KB/M?

Me, I can't bloody stand it with these games. I've tried a couple of xpadder type things, but they're just not cutting it.

I played ME2+3 on the xbox too. I prefer 3rd person shooters with an xbox pad and FPS obviously has to be done with M/KB :).

With ME though, it's more about the power wheel and general controls rather than the aiming side of things. They just work better on the console/xbox layout IMO.

Maybe if I'd played it on PC to begin with I might feel differently

Been trying to get into ME1 (working through the Steam back catalogue etc!).

It appears epic and has my attention however 3 and a half hours in and I'm running round this base talking to alien after alien and it's getting a tad boring...

Also, I am unable to put it into 1080 - is there an ini file that I can edit?

Thanks

This may seem silly but there should be a way to scroll on the resolution selection thingy. I had the same issue you did and felt very very silly when I found it. :D Hopefully that's your issue...

One of the best series I've ever played, the journey over all 3 is amazing and you will definitely get your moneys worth out of it.

If you decide to pickup MAss Effect bare this in mind.

When you first start the game you are sent to a City (The Citadel). This particular section of the game can go on for a few hours (dependent on completion of side missions). Please do not let this put you off the game. Two of my friends stopped playing at this point. Once you get beyond this city the game really takes off.
