Mass Effect trilogy

Been trying to get into ME1 (working through the Steam back catalogue etc!).

It appears epic and has my attention however 3 and a half hours in and I'm running round this base talking to alien after alien and it's getting a tad boring...

Also, I am unable to put it into 1080 - is there an ini file that I can edit?

Thanks

lol. See my post above this. That is the worse part of the game. In fact the worse part of any game. Once you get past this you'll have an amazing experience. Mass Effect became one of my fave games of all time, but damn that Citadel section nearly lost me.

And yeah you go into the steam folder and launch the config file from the Mass Effect folder to change resolution, audio and so on. For part 2 this is where you also import your save.

I played them out of order and as a result the first game in the series felt really clunky in comparison to the second which is the best in the trilogy in my opinion. The third was alright, I played through on the Playstation 3 and the immersion was ruined by huge amounts of frame dipping.

I still haven't complete the first one. Got to right near the end, I think, and just gave up. It was a good game but nothing special.

David I was almost the same, I got right to the very end and then it took me about 3 months to go back to. It just got very boring in parts for me.

Yes, it's worth it still now.

The first one is quite a slow start (as mentioned by a previous poster) but once it gets going it's brilliant (accept maybe the planet scanning and endless resource driving lol). The second continues the story and whilst the combat system has changed a bit and things are simplified, it's still very good.

After the 1st and 2nd you are just left in awe really... and then can't wait to play the 3rd :-) In truth, I played this game for the story.. it's very good.

Good luck, and have have.

I played the first one. Got quite a bit into it and then it crashed. My last save was further back than I could summon up the energy to repeat.

The third is much more polished IMO. I always thought the second was more about running errands for your team than progressing the storyline. And despite what anyone says the end isn't that bad. There was no way they could wrap up every single plotline and story in a satisfactory manner.

^Yeah.
As I said earlier, I haven't played through ME1, but I went through ME2 5 or 6 times.
I only managed to play through ME3 about one and a half times...

Saying that, I must've completed ME3 in two 12hr stints (with meal and toilet breaks obviously :p) and loved it mainly for the action. It was just knowing what happens at the end and how virtually none of the choices you've made make much difference that stopped it from being repeated over and over.

ME1 - Amazing. One of my favourite ever gaming experiences.
ME2 - More polished and probably a better game than 1 overall.
ME3 - Good until the ending, but the weakest of the 3 for me.

Overall though, ME is the best game series I have ever played. :)

Tbh, I think the ending of ME3 has blinded a lot of people to the overall weakness of the game. Tchunka and Rannoch are sublime, all the rest is at best acceptable, but mostly an example of very poor writing, and even poorer direction....just play through the opening on Earth again, it is appalling!

First game had Epic Story. I got hooked at Eden Prime as I wanted to know what the Beacon thing was.
Second game had great Character Development but not as good story as the first. Epic Ending scene.
Third game I stopped half way as I got bored and couldnt care what happend to the characters/Galaxy

I'd agree with that, though I've never gone back to see the Extended Ending (nor have I done any of the DLC I've bought) so it'll be interesting to see how much better it feels now.
