Mass Effect

Over rated pap than people fawn all over because it's bioware. Crap story, crap dialogue, crap combat.

Not too sure about the story, yet as I'm waiting for the PC version but the dialogue seemed ok from what I played, but yeah the combat was dreadful indeed and the poor frame rate in battles doesn't help one bit.

Definitely overrated, dare I say even more than Halo 3?

A truly great game can hold the attention of non genre fans as well the people it's aimed at. Oblivion did this for me, Mass Effect did not.

Thats where i struggle, i hated oblivion to the core, thought the combat system was seriously flawed and didnt like trvelling over a period of 5 hours to get somewhere. i enjoyed riding around on a horse, thats about it.

shame theirs no demo, or is their?

think il just browse but i will pick it up if nothing else tickles my fancy.

I've heard the last couple of hours is pretty good, no way I'm playing through 10 hours of drivel just to get to it.

The last two hours are very good, the combat or number of enemies is what it should be like at the start without the level ups. If you want to make it anything like a challenge do what cheets did and dont level up. The final boss level has the sophistication of a master system game.

Shoot at a blank spot on the wall and wait for the enemy to jump their as per pattern.

Kainz loves it and that's great, i'm glad he does. I just require more these days that this or Assassins creed. :)

But hey thats what a gaming forums for, one love it one hates it. I can accept I'm not right or wrong.

Fanboy ***** ;)

Got to remember that just like AC, the story is only just beginning as both are part of a trilogy. They better bring ME2 out quick ffs, I hate how long games get stuck in development nowadays.

Only you Sloth.

Clearly not. I know a good game when I see/play one.

No, do not buy. You would just be getting a £25 sleeping pill.

Its been said before but its true, a truely awful and disgraceful framerate, for an RPG its very linear (i.e. one route to the objective) The dialogue isnt that good but theres lots of it unfortunately, the combat is boring, feels like a dumbed down gears of war/graw, the team mate AI is rubbish and the games pace will make you bored.

If you want a good RPG thats based on player skill and doesnt rely fully on weapons upgrades, then get yourself oblivion.

It's true though it's very, very overrated, me thinks it's more to do with the 360 being fairly RPG starved.

If Kotor was released on the 360, before Mass Effect and then when Mass Effect came out everybody would be saying "My god this game sucks, Kotor was so good how did they end up with this?!"

I dont think they would. Its only the lack of star warsness that makes Mass effect slightly lesser.

For me the side quests fitted in nicely with the game. Mass effects just seemed bunged on at the end. Quite pointless and irrelevant.

Kotors combat worked well and you felt like your were progressing your character attributes nicely throughout the game. When you went into combat you had to do the pause and select the way you attacked/defended. In mass effect I did that less than 5 times in the whole run through. I never selected anything on my team mates. I just let the dumbass's do what they wanted. If they got killed I left them til I mopped up. Then they just sprang back up. I never used med packs, no need.

I felt Mass effect had far too much padding, the game has huge potential but the time it took to get the most basic information and the cringeworthy diatribe was a bit much sometimes.

Mass Effect conversations kinda reminds me when you read an autobiography of someone you like and you have to read all the bull before about their parents parents parents to get to anything like the good stuff. Kotor had genuine twists in the story and some surprises. Mass Effect had nothing plot wise of interest.

For £20 though you may as well give it a try, even if you hate it you will get your money back.

Those that have never touched a human women can get to simulate sex with an alien, so it's all good.

Each to their own but like wedgie I thought it was ****. The game has no pace, nothing to keep you coming back for more.

I find it hard to believe the people that made this **** made KOTOR.

Completely and utterly agreed, i bought it on advice from McDaniel and i have to say it was a pile of steaming dog crap. One of the worst games ive ever had the displeasure of playing. Yeh stationary the gfx was good but as soon as there was action on the screen...it got jittery.
Regardless i got over that but the gameplay was mind numbingly boring for me...christ i had more fun picking my nose than playing this...in fact so much so that i didnt bother completing it but traded it in and got Call of Juarez instead and tbh Call of Juarez threw a big bucket of vomit over Mass Effect:p.

But would i recommend it??...Not a chance in hell would i recommend it:D.

Looks like some people picked up Mass Effect looking for Halo 3 and got mad when they didn't see Masterchief shooting bullets at energy shields and being crap.
