Mass Effect

For Christ's sake yaboy, can you stop littering threads with stupid little images? And hotlinking them at that.
 
Have only really gotten into RPGs recently, having always been an FPS nab. First played Oblivion bout 2 years ago, was good but I got bored of it after 30 hours or so and never completed it. I played Witcher over Christmas and completed that, loved it. A few weeks ago I bought a 360 with Halo3 and Mass Effect and I completed it twice in two weeks, which for me is pretty rare (in fact I can't remember the last game I completed twice :eek:).

It's honestly one of my favourite games of recent years. Though you can argue because I haven't played KOTOR or Baldur's Gate etc, I don't have much to compare it to :p. It's definitely worth 25 quid though.. dunno how some people are calling it **** :confused: I have a mate who calls Half-Life 2 **** , I can believe people not enjoying a game as much as some and saying it's overrated, but to just completely pass off what is widely regarded as an excellent game as a turd... meh!
 
as said, a truly great game should hold my attention even when I don't like the genre, Oblivion held my intrest for much longer than Mass Effect did, that said I did get bored of Oblivion.

I just found Mass Effect slow, my gaming style has changed now, pick up and play games
 
I got mass effect for Christmas was expecting it to be a load of crap

However instead it was one of the best games I have played and lost around 35 hours of my life playing it.

Excelent game cant recommend it enough.

Yeah me too, I think he works for bioware. He moved house because I'm hunting him down ;)

He isn't going to the LAN because I worked out his route and was going to roadblock him.

Normally I'm pretty much enjoying the same games McDingle likes, but this is one time we disagree. :)

Where as Nokkon and I are complete opposites If he says he likes a game I can happily delete it from a future playlist :D
 
i think mass effect is a superb game, and so gets another vote to buy it from me :P

thought the storyline was impressive and although some of the framerates dropped it wasnt too annoying. the load times in the lifts could get a bit annoying and the extra missions are a bit samey but other than that it was excellent.

The load time pre witcher patch didnt get on my nerves so i think i should be ok. i generally think about the gameplay rather than loading times. as long as i am not waiting 5 minutes each loading sequence.

nah not 5minutes, probably about 30seconds to 1minute.
 
Mass Effect is an overrated, overhyped and overappreciated piece of pap. Bad combat, bad loading, bad graphical issues and performance, bad and excessive driving sections, bland and barren, empty planets that are actually copy and pasted with different texture colors (they remind me of old Atari freeform games in terms of simplicity and content) repetitive side-missions that suffer from copy+paste room syndrome, vague minigames with a total lack of explanation, contrived plot and terrible voice acting that uses repetitive and scripted motions that do not match what the character is trying to say or convey.

I'd rather pee glass than play this 'game'.

Such a fall from grace after Knights of the Old Republic really. Now EA has bought them, we should spend a moment in silence to remember how they were. You are only kidding yourselves if you expect any improvement.

Your statement is full of lies. I never pull sickies, I work just over 4 months a year, the rest is geniune time off like right now :p Hawaiian shirts only really sell for 4 months of the year you see.

I was actually trying to unlock the songs for my wife in quest mode, for some reason you have to do that to unlock the decent tracks. Otherwise its all techno crap. In the end I gave up when A my xbox died and B the quest mode is so painfull I couldn't be arsed. I need a cheat to unlock them.
