I'm not a massive fan of the revised format of amateur Masterchef, but I've been quite taken with the new series of the professional version - and I'm especially impressed by the young girl with the crazy hair who has just come out of catering college.

However, what's with the voiceover?! Poor old India Fisher has been replaced by the seemingly ubiquitous Sean Pertwee and the whole thing now sounds like a commercial for a sodding beauty product.

"Kevin has made a Stilton and bacon tart served with caramelised apples and micro-herb salad which helps lock in moisture and fights against the ten signs of ageing..."

Still, it's more interesting than Celebrity Masterchef. Why that was scheduled at half-two in the afternoon is anyone's guess.

Oh god don't get me started on Pertface. Does my head in. I want India.

I've only seen a few eps as I can't get iPlayer out here without spoofing my IP. That girls called clare isn't she? Seems lots like her. I follow her on twitter lol

Celebrity Masterchef is crap because only one or two of them can actually cook. Amateur Masterchef is my favourite, as the have the most to gain, but you're right about the format changes.

I must admit, I do like Pro series on at the moment though. I like Michel Roux Jr and Monica too, Monica's facial expressions are hilarious. Whilst I do like them, the John and Greg double act are somewhat signature to the series.

This week looks pretty strong though. Going to be hard to narrow that bunch down.

I also like Michel Roux and Monica! Monica's incessant use of the word skills and the way she says it 'skiws' :D

Agree with Burnseh, it's a really strong bunch this week and it's going to be difficult for them to choose between them.

i have no interest in cooking or eating decent food whatsoever but i do like watching this. :)

i bet all the ones who did well last night will crumble in the 10-15 minute skill test tonight. they always do. :p

I presume Monica is Michel Roux's sous chef or something? I would watch it but I absolutely can't stand her. I get the feeling she's constantly being told by the production to say these stupid things like 'I would never give that to my boss', it's all 'my boss' this and 'my boss' that. Does my head in, and she doesn't seem very consistent either. Meh.

Far too much footage cut in of Monica/Michel/Greg pulling silly faces completely out of context, I'd rather it focussed on what was actually being cooked.

Only watched a couple of episodes, been watching Australian version and it took some getting used to, but I now prefer it.
Micheal roux keeps repeating the same thing and is so cold, just no emotion or fun.

Hope the recipes are online.
Really need to do that cheesecake sandwich that looked awesome.
That lamb and offal dish also looked good with a few tweaks.

Really? The one who totally messed up both dishes should have gone through , no idea of names haven't seen enough episodes.

Indeed. They both had shedloads of potential, but with the mistakes they made Michel and Greg made the right choice. I was quite happy for Chris to go out anyway, he seemed rather cocky.

I'm not normally enamoured by the pro version, but this time I find myself making sure I sit down to watch this. I love the format and the presenters. Monica and Michel are class acts and Greg is just hilarious.

I too prefer the amateur one though. I also thought they made the wrong choice, but then
Michel Roux Jnr. has a whopping hard-on for one of the contestants in particular, on account of him having French family and being classically trained. Forget the fact that he ****ed up the previous round big style.
