Masterchef: The Professionals

I think the deciding factor probably boiled down to the fact that Ash's food tasted so consistently brilliant and every dish looked like it had a solid plan behind it. Claire and steve sometimes looked like they had thrown some ingredients together, albeit extremely well, whereas Ash's food was always carefully formulated with precision.

By far the closest and most contested final 3 I've ever seen in Masterchef.

Steve was brilliant but needs to grow up, and improve his consistancy.

When he did things right, they were superb; but he did throw childish wobblies a couple of times and have a number of issues across the series. A superb contestant, more than deserving to be in the final but forever in the shadow of Claire and Ash: utterly BEAUTIFUL starter on slate however: his most beautiful dish of the series and something to be incredibly proud to finish off with.

Claire really highlighted her capabilities across the series with some absolutely stunning dishes - the fact I can feel so passionately about her food despite never tasting it highlights the importance of her aesthetic, and what a beautiful set of creations she has conceptualised and produced this series.

Michel Roux has a connection with her and will no doubt ensure she has work if it is a path she wishes to pursue with him; I see a future 'Monica' type role perhaps until she matures enough to run her own business.

Ash was impeccable. An unrelenting stream of beautiful, appealing meals. I cannot recall a single mistake or quibble with any of his dishes across the whole series. He was superior to both Claire and Steve - but only in the respect of execution and consistency, factors I invisage the younger contestants accruing once they too have another 10/12 years in the kitchen like Ash.

In forsee Claire overtaking the abilities of Ash in coming years - but feel that her not winning will make no difference to the outcome of her path; I don't see her opening her own place imminently but going to a top-flight kitchen for a while, enhancing and utilising her skills.

Ash has done that already, he's attained the skills, the creativity and understanding of gastronomy and winning Masterchef will give him the status required to give him 'that chance' that will not often be given to a mid-thirties guy of (with all respect) monotonous and unwarming personality. His final food (albeit incredible) wasn't his best in my opinion. Something was lacking but clearly from Greg & MRjr it wasn't lacking in flavour! :)

As said earlier in this thread - I see his own place being opened over the next year or so, and if his cooking even only continues at his current level then the star(s) will be in the bag in a very short amount of time.

EDIT: There was a distinct lack of celebration don't you think?? It was a bit like a corporate party - 'Here is your complimentary glass of champagne, well done. bye.'

We needed something more like this:

It was a great series and a superb final three. I think the right person won as Ash really impressed from the first round and continued to be strong throughout the competition where Clare and Steve did have the occasional wobble.

They’ll all go on to great things and all end up with great job offers.
