Masterchef: The Professionals

The blown sugar peach/apricot was stunning

amazing stuff - really incredible. Still think it's Ash's to lose.

Is it just me or was Claire own desert of custard and some fruit not a little basic!?!??

I thought it was something that a 5 year old could make.

Other than that - it all look amazing stuff last night - love this series!!

I need to download them as I can't watch them :( but I took looked at the El Celler site, apparently it's only 9hrs from me. Tempting drive.

Can you pick me up on the way? :)

I should write up my trip to San Sebastian on here sometime, it's definitely worth travelling down to some of these places! I was worried El Cellar might be another place that is style over substance but what I saw from last night's episode looked awesome. THey do some crazy Rotary Evaporation stuff too, they once made a dish with the aroma of soil.. bonkers!

Really impressed with everyone again from that episode, some of the techniques involved in those dishes were v tough!

Wow that looked really tough, props to the chefs. Ash to win, he's been outstanding.

I definitely think Ash will win but when you consider he's got 10 years extra experience on the other two it's no surprise.

I think the other two are really impressive for their age — It would be interesting to see what they're doing in their mid 30s.

Steve actually really impressed me today.

I think Ash will win but it's not a certainty yet. If one of the other two can pull out a faultless display they could have a chance.

regardless of who wins, they're all sorted for future employment. i can't see any of them going back to their old jobs.

completely off topic but after the programme, i had a quick google to see how many michelin star restaurants there are in the UK. i was absolutely gobsmacked to find a 2 star restaurant literally just over the road from my old house - it's wireless was even in range from my laptop :p. i walk past it everyday and had absolutely no idea it was that kind of standard.

Dunno but jorick (spelling?) - the youngest of the three bros running that spanish place looked so much like an inquisitive rat and not in a insulting way. The facial hair, the constant head leaning forwards, the nose... Really did make me think of one :)

Fish out the wallet, buy a three course meal you could easily fit on a saucer then tell us how it was :p

*edit: Hey! Claire's wearing glasses this time. Never seen her doing that before. Forgotten the contacts?

**edit: Massive opinion swing on Steve this time round. Amusing role reversal where he's the one that's chilled and the other two are the ones (the camera shows as) stressing it.

Still find Steve annoying. His nasal ozzy osbourne-style voice and constantly saying 'cool' when Michel Epic was schooling him. Good though, obviously.

Lol at the pigeon reference.

Ash is basically an all-round awesome guy, no homo.

I agree. He reminded me of the rat (Remy) from Ratatouille :)

I also found it interesting (for lack of a better word) that he seemed to enjoy watching them work too, he is clearly a Chef that enjoys seeing new things, I liked how he got on really well with Ash and seemed to hold Steve's hand too :p

Agree. My opinion hasn't changed on Steve, I think he's the weakest of the three (that not being a bad thing as he's still a fantastic chef) Claire is brilliant because she's inventive and creative on top of being young and still learning.

Ash is still for me just a cut above Claire, he's already at the level they're looking for (Could argue that they all are to be honest) but Ash is just a top bloke, really quite amazing stylish chef and comes across as a thoroughly top bloke.

Apparently Brett from the Ledbury was on it last night. He offered to cook me my pork belly in their steamer for my Christmas Eve dinner and I could go and pick it up. Don't get that offer very often lol
Shame I'm not even in the country ffs!

although i do enjoy masterchef i don't have any interest in that kind of dining. :p but you can see here why i had no idea it has 2 stars. a junk shop one side and a military memorabilia shop the other - and it's a busy main road too. :/

(suffolk road in cheltenham)

and i just realised the chef was a diner on masterchef last night...

I'm still amazed that there aren't any stars in Glasgow.

I've always liked Steve, and without him the other two wouldn't have got their stuff out on time. I think that there should be more made of that.
