Matched betting - who's done it and who's good at it? (No Referrals)

I looked in to it and decided to give it a miss. Sports trading is a very large step from "placing a few bets here and there to make a few extra bob" to "I'm going to need to do this full time to be decent at it", with the extra bonus of losing a lot of money if you mess up.

Unlike matched betting, you actually need to know horse backgrounds, history, performance, stats, etc etc. It's a LOT of research and not something I'd do unless I was extremely passionate about it or had access to information that Joe Public doesn't have (in which case I'd just put bets on anyway).

If you want to give it a shot then good luck, but it's not something you pick up and be successful with easily.

DBT85 how much did you initially start off with if you don't mind me asking, so what did you originally put into the pot?

Originally I put £100 in as I wanted to see how things went and what it was all about.

As the days went and I was completing more offers (plenty of down time) and understanding better I wanted to be able to take part in more stuff and complete the bet365 offer. I'm lucky enough to have some money sitting around so I did so.

In the 21 days since starting I've paid £1,720 into exchanges directly though £1360 was in the first 7 days as I started that bet365 earlier than most probably do.

£1,492 into 25 various bookie accounts to start up and complete the offers.

Taken out £2,126 from bookies in winnings.

So so far I'm still £1,086 out of pocket based on outs and ins. But I also have £2000 sitting in exchanges and bookies so am up overall.

These are from my own records. Both my own and my yesbets numbers line up at £930 profit which is largely just from opening accounts. Quite how well I'll do in the next 21 days remains to be seen.

£10k . I have been building the bank just very slowly but have various ways to help on those more difficult days.

It really depends. I probably do a good few hours* a week an average £200 a month in profit, there are some that can hit £500 without too much bother. I am coming up to my 12 months and have made ~£2.5k (documented so at least another £500 on top from bits and bobs) for me and ~£2k for the Mrs though she started a few months after me.

*It can be time consuming at first but once you have the hang of it, it's very quick to do. Research and mug betting are take up the most time outside of the matched bets.

Thanks really helpful. I think it is one of those things you need to try for a while to get used to and see how it all works :)

I have only allowed myself £150 to start with but I've almost completed the basic free bet starter offers and I am up around 250.

I'm going to struggle with the free bet returned offers most of which have £400 liability. I will do them one at a time but if the back wins then that is 2-3 days waiting for a withdrawal. :(

How does everyone get matched bets with such high liabilities anyway? I've been struggling to do my £100 free Ladbrokes bet the past few days. I've only managed it now because of the Euros tomorrow. There only ever seems to be £50 in the exchange for the horse races I've tried.

You don't always HAVE to do such high bets. Many of the offers just need that much in total so do it in smaller chunks.

Ha! Try Tonybet, where they restrict your bets depending on what you bet on (or as I suspect, the liquidity at exchanges) to stupid amounts. I've had bets from £3.11 up to £40.34. Yes, I can not go over those limits and the limit is different for every bet I place. I have to suck £150 over from them to Smarkets. Been over a week. They don't have horse markets either. It's a slow and painful process.

Had I known it would've been such a schlep before I started I would've steered clear as it's locked a ton in with them until I lose it to the exchanges.

Avoid unless you have a mega bankroll and loads of time.

Didn't know that. Just done an intro offer with them and both my qualifiers that should have easily lost, in fact won leaving hundreds in my account. Fortunately England's poor results have helped me lose hundreds back into the exchange. Fully expect to get gubbed with the size of bets I was doing :D

Oh and Bobby avoid horses at the moment, only once you've got £500 or so to play with. There are loads of good offers on at the moment for building bank, Paddy's "bet 20, get 5 for each goal they score" is a good one if you pick the right team. Coral's refund losing correct score bets is another. There are decent offers out there which will give you decent bets for a small outlay, you just need to be smart about it. I started with £60 about 5 weeks ago and I'm now on £600ish so I can appreciate your position. The trick is to just take it slow at first and use that time to learn, stick with it. You'll get there.

Oh and if you have any risk free casino offers, use them too. I had a risk free tenner recently and my wife pulled £100 out of it so try your luck (you MUST be firm with this though, loads of us fall to this one and end up blowing real money, if you're not disciplined enough to know when to stop, then don't start).

Good luck, you'll get there :)

Tonight's games offers:

Ladbrokes: Bet 20 in play, get 10.
Coral: Bet 10 on correct score, get 10 in play.
Genting: Bet 10, get 4 spins for each goal scored.
Paddy's: Bet 20 on a team, get 5 for each goal they score.
Comeon: Enhanced offer for new members.

As always, read the Ts&Cs, do your homework, I am not responsible for any losses.

Get on it folks!

Ladbrookes won't work outside Uk. Annoying as I'm on hols in Montenegro (very nice place)

Gonna start this properly again when I am back.

If anyone has any bets with wincashlive, be careful, they are in administration, so probably bets will not be paid out... cash out from the exchange so you don't lose money in case the back bet wins

VPN buddy works fine even with the mobile betting. I live outside the UK and matchbet.

Thank you for this, have a little money in there. Will lose the money into the exchange.

EDIT - telling complete porkies, cleared the account the other day :D

Account is in fact £0 but it's not too hard with a big enough bank. Slapped £100 on England and £100 on the draw for the Iceland game, with the intention of losing it to the lay account. England's dire performance helped me somewhat :D.

First attempt at a tennis accumulator refund on Coral and I'm £13 down because of a void match :(

1 horse racing refund today on Paddypower, barely covers my qualifying losses over the last few days. Need another tomorrow!
