Matched betting - who's done it and who's good at it? (No Referrals)

Depends how hard you want to go. Loads of people go full on abusing every offer they get which bookies are quick to qise up to and shut you down, in which case you're stuck with whatever's left of your sub just wasting away.

Personally I take it easy, don't bet every day, skip bets, let some free bets expire, etc. This way I might not earn as much as the more hardcore guys but I've beeon gubbed by a whole 1 bookie in just shy of two years.

Quick tip for the B365 offer:

Play for the refund. Use the in-play bet on an outside chance with a close match (say, Man City to win). You'll have a small QL, and therefore £45+ profit. At this point, you can still lose a few quid, so you have the option of placing another small bet on the outcome you backed to balance the winnings. This method should still unlock the most profit, while adding flexibility (risk a loss, small profit, even profit).

To give an example, with earlier numbers on Man City:

£50 on Man City
Barcelona win: £47.77
Draw:£47.77
Man City: -£2.23

or

£57 on Man City
Barcelona win: £40.77
Draw:£40.77
Man City: £39.77

Or any number of other combinations. Choosing longer odds could increase the potential profit a little (due to a smaller additional bet on the chosen market).

I note that betfair is taking a while to verify - I uploaded a scan of my passport a couple of days ago, but it still says I'm not verified (the consequence being that I can't withdraw until then). It says I only have until tomorrow to verify myself. Is this normal?

Otherwise, I've done the first couple of yesbets offers, and I'm a few ££ up!

Guys I have a quick need for a matched betting answer.

I'm new to this, only been doing it a week.

Can I lay 2 outcomes on the same match on smarkets? I.e lay team A to win to cover a bet at bookie A, and lay a draw to cover a bet at bookie B - on the same match on smarkets?

There's no way you'd need to wager the full £20k though - you'd lose it into the exchange way before you get near £20k.

I've pulled you up in this thread so many times but spouting nonsense like this is totally irresponsible. It's ridiculous people can't give medical advice on here but someone can freely give advice which could lose someone literally thousands.

Yes.

Remember, the thing with exchanges is that it isn't you vs the exchange like a normal bookie, it's you vs other punters - the exchange are quite happy to take all the bets you want to place as they get a commission on everything you place - it's always a win-win situation for the exchange.

Thanks - I didn't know if the opposing lays would interfere with each other somehow.

The other problem I'm having is keeping winning at the bookie, which moves my balance out of the exchange and I keep needing to top it up. Could do with going longer odds I suppose but sometimes there are none available so I have to bet the qualifying bet at shorter odds. Plus I can't lay off long odds yet as my exchange balance is too small. Any tips?

I have been mostly backing draws. Some of them have come in. But many draws are still only at odds of around 4ish which isn't good enough to unlock 70%+ profits on the free bets.

I haven't tried the horses yet. Think I will have a problem as I can only place my bets the evening before due to work.

I'm getting quite into the flow of this now, I'm working my way nicely through the Yesbets new customer offers.

I've just opened an Smarkets account - question: do people generally favour Smarkets (smaller, but only 2% commission) or Betfair Exchange (Bigger, but 5% commission)?

Doing a bit of Googling, one person reckons Smarkets is the new market leader, whilst someone else is telling me that Smarkets is glitchy and that people have lost thousands due to the software bugging out mid-lay.

Personally, I'm leaning towards that 2% commission...

I've used Smarkets exclusively for the last year or so without a hitch. The 2% adds up to a lot of money over time. The only drawback is that they don't have as many markets as Betfair but it's never really been an issue. It only really starts becoming a problem when you want to bet on the Japanese High School U19 B team quarter finals or some nonsense event, which is a road straight to gubsville anyway.

If the lay is time critical (i.e. in play stuff) I wouldn't use smarkets - Betfair is far more reliable. For general things - i.e. laying a football match that isn't due to kick off for an hour smarkets is fine.

Guys can I please check something with you. Its quite urgent.

I have backed and layed Tottenham to win on William Hill and on Smarkets at 5/4.8. Is this ok? I noticed afterward that on William Hill the heading of the section said '90 minutes'. I just want to check I'm not going to fall foul of any rule if the game isn't over after 90 minutes.
