Matched betting - who's done it and who's good at it? (No Referrals)

I'm surprised they were not cracking down on the PA sheep sooner, I mean there is a facebook page that people have liked/commented on with their real names. There is an obvious flow of people singing up when offers get promoted on there. Any half decent data analyst/scientist ought to be able to gub a large % of their members.

not that gubbing is really OK - frankly if bookies are prepared to offer certain prices and certain free bets they ought to be held to them but with the way the market exists they can seemingly get away with gubbing people so from their own self interest perspective I'm surprised they're not targeting such an obvious pool of matched betters more efficiently

Genuinely curious, did you have any concerns when depositing with these sites?

If I take a look at the social media feeds and see tumbleweed it really doesn't inspire confidence.

I did a little, mainly because their sites are complete trash. Was on Live Chat most days. Don't think I lost much anyway as most bets won into the exchange.

There is really no need for PA after the first month, I can match bet without it and I am very slow.... :o PA and it's sheep are killing MB!

I think this will be my last month of PA. it's just too expensive and I'm pretty sure I can find offers elsewhere. Most are just regular repeats anyway like second place horse refunds. Also, a lot of offers are emailed to me anyway. B365 for example always make me aware of the £50 IP bet and sky always email me about the horse racing refunds.

We should try and keep this thread active as well. This could be a good source of info for us MB'ers.

what do you do for finding the bets, that seems to be the best thing about pa is the oddsmatching.

well I mostly did this about 12 - 15 years ago when it was a bit more lucrative... at the start casino offers could be even exploited by simply covering an entire roulette wheel, spinning once and cashing out

one forum I used a bit back in 2003 was rpoints and it seem that is still going

MSE forums seem to have a section on it and there are numerous blogs

if PA is genuinely coming up with offers you can't find elsewhere then maybe they're adding value however given that you've posted you don't have much cash to lay with you'll probably find more than enough sign up offers to be getting on with without needing PA

sign up offers aren't the issues, already getting emails with more offers. its the odds matching, whish makes painful job of searching events and odds, to going that's the event i'll bet on, and occasionally odds have changed so have to go to second in list

I don't really understand - why is it hard to do that for yourself.

Also if people are all placing the same bets en mass in order to take advantage of these offers isn't that blindingly obvious for any bookie who cares to look at the data.

I'd say its more beneficial to do it yourself... could turn it into a project betfair has an API and there is plenty of example code out there for scraping websites... why rely on some guy with a website who will be sending hundreds of other numpties towards the same bets - can't be that efficient for the exchange if you're either trying to get filled with a limit order and the prices the other side of the spread are being taken or you're joining in with the rest of the liquidity takers and potentially pushing the market a bit higher. Screw it if PA gets particularly big then maybe there is an edge in initially taking the other side and providing liquidity for some of their recommended bets.

there's hundreds of events and you have to search the bookie, then the exchange and fund something extremely close.

hundreds of people wont be placing the same bets as the odds change by the minute. as well as there needing to be enough money in lay bets to be matched, then different people will be wanting different odds.
cant see anyone else from pa placing the same bets as me, as most of the lay bets i've used almost the whole pot or money.

the value added imo, is that I can place the bets within a couple of minutes, if I had to find it myself it probably take 30mins. so unless someone points out another site that does the same, or an easy way to find such bets, it seems well worth the money.

Yep, just do as the email says. When these things come up, the words,to look for are Opt In. If they're not there, you can usually just go ahead. That said, most bookies have a chat thingy you can use.

unrelated to main topic, but how do I do a cumulative bet. say pick 6 football matches. put a £1 on the first and then winnings goes to the next one etc.
never mind figured it.

This reminds me of the time full tilt poker basically closed a load of accounts for bonus abuse / bots, they kept all the money in the accounts!
Lost about £500, was only a week away from clearing an additional £400 bonus as well :(

Hope you guys have better luck getting some back.
