Matched betting - who's done it and who's good at it? (No Referrals)

think I understand.

just made a boo boo.
I thought free bet was selected but it wasn't :(, so betted twice now.

if back wins I gain £47.73
if lay wins I "gain" -£2.23

so thankfully nothing major.

or I could put a second lay on and lose 36p edit - no I cant odds have jumped massively.

edit2 well that's 3 free bets completed, one mistake. Up 43.58 - 22.99(PA) so profit = £20.59

not bad for a few clicks taking a couple of minutes. if I could do £50 a week I would be over the moon. Now having to wait a few days to get money back in my account to do the next ones.

Think PA should explain unmatched bets sooner, had an unmatched bet. So went searching for a tutorial explaining it. All fixed now, but anyone starting out. Watch that video first.

New odds dropped my profit by £2 but at least it's matched. Only my second offer, as had to wait 24 hours for the free bet to activate.

The £ amount in the pink box on betfair is how much is in the market and available to be matched, if your lay is less than you can wait or lay most of it off and see if rest gets matched later on. Best to do that if you have a while before the event happening. But yes PA do not say this up front anywhere from what I can remember, bloke at work told me about it.

they have a tutorial about 5 bets into the beginning offers. should be one of the first tutorials imo. but as said I got it fixed.

If you spent some time trying to understand the basics of how this works you wouldn't need to look for such tutorials I'm not saying this to knock anyone it is just good practice in general especially where there is money involved. Forums can be useful for people highlighting offers etc.. discussing bookies that gub people etc..etc.. but the basics of how an exchange works really ought to be something you familiarise yourself with before starting this, betfair have plenty of information on their website.

Quite fun the prospect of this... Just placed my first bets and pretty sure it's all done right, we shall see! Looks like a fun hobby

So let me get it straight... I bet £20 free on something at 4.5 to return £70 SNR and on the exchange for 4.5 I have a liability of £55.05

So if my bookies bet wins I get £70 but if my lay bet wins... How are the winnings made up?

Edit - actually I get it now anyway, if lay bet comes through I profit 15 and if it loses I profit 15 from the back bet... Didn't understand what betfair was showing at first

about to make another £38 tonight, and the first people I signed upto have a weekend free bet already. although got no money to lay at the moment, still i'm hoping lay wins tonight. So severely limited by bank balance at the moment,

why oh why did it take me so long to actually start doing this.

Fun isn't it!

Give it some time mate, rather build up a balance slowly with minimal scope for errors than jump in and potentially lose loads of wedge.

Christ, I spent about £5k in one go and had to start building up with a £25 bankroll. That took for bloody ever, but I'm doing ok now.

ouch, I started, with 200 and struggling. when this comes in tonight that'll have grown to 280. but yes I'm not going to pump anymore in.

FYI - my dad's had real issues with FUN88

He emailed me this morning to warn me

Do not use this company. Not been paid after Cheltenham offers, lost £290, they are not paying out. Say they will return deposits not winnings. Quiet a lot on the forum had the same.
Obviously they took a beating and hence response. Really taken the shine off any recent match betting.

Be careful if your running high balances
