When two people argue it's sometimes easy to forget who else is around, all you can really do is have a polite word and if they ignore it say that you don't want to, but if they won't be reasonable that you'll have to call the police. Apart from that your involvement should be nill.

I don't see what else you can do really.

Burst in the room with a baseball bat, tell them to stfu or gtfo, if they do neither then redecorate the room with BRAINS!
Then while you're in prison for aforementioned crime, use the time to learn the English language, in particular spelling and sentence structure.
I'm no grammar nazi but that was painful to read.

Firstly...........What a post!

Secondly.....my input :D

My analysis (for whats its worth) Rachel + Drink = Problem!

1) I think somebody needs to sit down (whilst sober) and explain to Rachel, If she is drunk she comes no where near the flat....END OF!
2) Explain that there needs to be some respect for all other parties in the flat.. may i suggest?? some house rules!!
3) I know its not your issue and some may say to keep out....however im with you on the fact that you have to live there too
4) Explain to James that its getting up your nose, if he is any sort of mate then he will do something about it.

Overall it seems that Rachel is the issue, she needs sacking off !!

I hope that helped?

christ

tell them to grow up

when they start arguing, just put christmas songs on really loud until they stop

Did you say you have 8 people living in a flat :o. It must be a massive flat otherwise I have no idea how you all live together without wanting to kill each other

has anyone suggested smashing her pasty from orbit while on fire? doing the dirty with her might actually get rid of her if you make it VERY uncomfortable :p

I concur, I lived in a flat of 8 before and it just didn't work. You split off into cliques and not everybody gets along.

If you aren't all best friends or at least on the same wavelength, then it makes for a pretty rubbish flat.

Your mate James needs a reality check - better you give it to him than someone who doesn't care about his feelings. Rachel obviously has drinking issues, but he's so glad to get some regular pasty that he's overlooking the fact she's a psycho hosebeast. Tell him straight and don't pull your punches. Living in a house with people who argue can be a horrible thing - and the more you live with it, the more likely you are to do something you'll all regret.

Oh, and if you're a student, work on your essay writing skills :D

Really couldn't be a**** reading the entire post it was making my eyes bleed but the sensible response has already been given. Sit them down, lay out the house rules and if they don't stick to it, he takes a hike. Is this student flat arranged through the Uni or is it a bunch of mates deciding to do it alone? If via Uni then I am sure their department could lend a hand with regard to acceptable behaviour.

Failing that record the screaming rows, then play them back to them every time they walk in the house. Put speakers next to the bedroom door on their quiet nights and play it full volume.....they will soon get the picture.
