because it is based on our real world, everything in it so far is plausibly possible. but why would he have powers that are physically impossible in the real world? only if he was some how connected to the computers still (which he isnt if he is in the real world as he isnt plugged in) would he be able to do anything like that.

if he just developed powers like that randomly because he now fully understands the matrix then that would not be going along the plot or philosophy of the film so far at all..

I was just thinking. What would happen if Bane tried to enter the Matrix again? Would he appear as Bane or appear as another Agent Smith?

My bet would be on looking like Agent Smith. Personally I think he's overwriten Banes consciousness or something, so the mind in Banes body is actually Smith's. As such he'd appear as Smith due to the Residual Self Image effect mentioned earlier.

We might find out in november :D (that is when the next one is out isnt it?)

I've not read the whole of this - far too much!

Saw the film friday, and have a couple of thoughts:

1) I prob should have re-watched teh first film to remind me what the heck was going on.
2) The dance scene was pretty cool, but possibly a little long
3) The sex sceen was way too long. Ok, so trinity is kinda attractive, and all the ladies love mr reeves, but that was way too long.
4) There's only so much of that slo-mo fighting I can take without falling asleep. Sorry.

Overall, Ok, but not really my thing, too much fantasy stuff. But then I was never all that struck by the first film :)

The Merovingian
The merovingian dynasty ruled much of europe (put predominantly France) between the 5th and 8th century, and claimed to be of messaniac descent. They were removed by the 'Donation of Constantine', a document which is now suspected to have been a forgery. The merovingian race have also been attributed as the daughter race of humanity and Nephilim. The Nephilim (fallen angels) are said to have created humanity and brought all knowledge of the arts from a prior civilisation.

As the Nephilim were cast out of heaven (zion) - and lets also factor in the idea we have a descendent from the messiah (The One) - could the Merovingian be an earlier iteration of The One - probably the very first from the Eden matrix that avoided returning to the source as he was an unexpected anomaly, unforseen by The Architect?

As the leader of the Nephilim, the merovingian is also essentially satan.

Nephilim are also described (in human form) as having shimmering white skin, so possibly the twins are a bit more than mere ghosts.

Persephone
Persephone was the daughter of Zeus and his sister, Demeter, and after Hades took her from the upper world, down to the lower one, she became his queen - queen of the underworld. On earth before descending to Hades, she was a virgin goddess, Demeter's young and beautiful daughter, playing and picking flowers.
Under the earth, in Hades, she was the dread queen, an unhappy and unwilling wife, a severe and serious lady with a majestic manner and appearence. One could say that there were two Persephones or that she depicted two personalities. The Persephone that lived on earth with her mother for eight months, who came up with the sprouting seeds, was the grain that fed man and animals; the Persephone who lived for four months with her husband underground, after visiting her mother, was the seed planted in the deep earth.
This dual life gave rise to her being the personification of Spring, the season of return, and of growth.

Persephone certainly seems the unwilling wife in the film. It could even be that she is related to the Architect (Zeus?) and the as yet un-named mother of the matrix (Demeter?), neither of whom would approve of a union with a variation of The One. She could also be tied into the cyclic restart of the matrix itself.

Ah well, a couple of points to ponder anyway :)
